help?? what a crap
if you mean Ratu Adil Movement, they were killing 94 Indonesian soldiers in Bandung and planning to take down Soekarno (the President).
is that help??
You know what was people said about that movement? "de zwarte hand van Nederland" (black hand from Netherland)
please read more the history mate, you make me feel angry for this one
Omg I cant believe my great pa did that!

he passed away when I was like 10 and he always told me good things about Indonesia, i remember he once said that he ran a farm over there and he never mentioned about his experience as a soldier there, the ratu adil one i got was from my grandpa. I think he traveled over there every year with his 'war-time' friends.

His wife, my great nan is from Indonesia, still alive today. She's from Java I think.

what does 'ratu adil' means anyway? is it a place?

sorry to hear that, but that is the cruelest truth mate

RATU ADIL for sundanese people means a figure from prophecy believed he/she will rule indonesia to be a strong, safe, prosperous nation.

that movement use the name of RATU ADIL to take sundanese people sympathy to join them in that movement. unfortunately they failed

i believe your great pa didn't tell to your great nan the truth

I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather, but even he was holding back the truth, can anyone honesty say that Indonesia wouldn't attempt to do the same thing with Australias goverment if Australia and Indonesia's stance in the occupation was swapped around?

I just read the story and it was horrible what those Holland commandos did. It was, wow, was like a punch in the gut y know. If youd known my great pa you wouldn't believe that he participated in those murders.

I still have a photo of him and his commando friends in a mountain in Indonesia called as 'Singgalang'. it's dated July 1972, he looks so happy there, like it was his homeland or something. He was Dutch yes, but he was born there. So I guess that was why he kind of felt attached to the islands and wanted to 'retake' it back. That was i think the reason why he didn't take the boat back to Holland and chose to migrate to Australia instead, maybe because it's closer to 'home.' If only the Dutch and the indigenous Indonesians could get along well, have an understanding and just treat each other like equal it wouldn't have to end the way it did...it's so sad, I think im gonna call my great nan now and ask her about those periods. Its kind of nice to know a bit of history about your family.

Well I also hoped for that. I mean the Dutch have contributed more to Indonesia than our current politicians ever did. All they ever did is watch porn and play games in their ten thousand dollar brand new laptops with taxpayers money in the representative building, 1/3 of the representatives don't even bother to come in when all they need to do is just sit there and grab their weekly hundred thousand dollar paycheck. What does independence and democracy mean if the powerful still rule over and exploit the poor? It's just like Dutch time only now the oppressors are none other than our own people. Might as well bring the Dutch back since they've built effective education system, tidy and planned urban centers, and infrastructure projects such as the North Coast road and the railway networks all over Indonesia, are ALL built by the Dutch, when our own peole took over there was not a single railway built, let alone built, almost half of them is disbanded and sold to steel dealers, only1/3 is left operating. They closed down the trams in Jakarta, Surabaya, Solo and Malang, when they were considered revolutionary in their times and replaced it with tuk tuks. The Sukabumi-Bandung railway is not operating anymore when it could have helped thousands in commuting instead of using the treacherous mountain road. Pekanbaru-Malacca strait, courtesy of the Japanese, has never been operated when we could have used it for opening an international port by the busiest strait in the world. Our government is a JOKE!!! a fcuking JOKE, they keep Indonesians subpar in education to keep themselves in the office, they use the guise of nationalism, protectionism and religion to get the vote of these poor people when all they did is not nationalism but exploitation and treason at its worst. They said they help farmers but they keep importing products from abroad, they said they help farmers but they buy it at a level where it cannot even cover the farmers' basic needs, many farmers in here committed suicide because they cant pay their debts. They use the polygamy law so that they can have many wives that can support their business, it's pathetic!!!
People in the city seems to have always been oblivious to this, they don't know what happen in the 'breadbasket' of Indonesia where hundreds are overworked and underpaid, many found in the field dying from heat stroke. They think all is fine as seen from the flourishing malls and nightclubs in their city.
And then they wonder why these 'country bumpkins' turn to religious extremism and terrorism and robbing people in the city. BRING BACK THE DUTCH TO INDONESIA!! I don't care what the excuses are, but our government cannot stoop lower than this, Dutch has more ethic than this, at least in the 21st century they'll abide to international laws regarding slavery, unlike our government who keep covering up abut this and entice foreigners about statistics and 'economic growth'.

actually, there were some dutch who oppose the colonialism by their country such as Eduard Douwes Dekker, Ernest Douwes Dekker, etc..
and they were joining the indonesian independence movement

meanwhile, for your great pa case
the history didn't say that they were trying to take indonesia from their own mother country due to the closeness feelings toward indonesia. i don't know the true reason for your great pa join that movement.
if its true, we indonesian should be grateful to that action. but, the fact says different. they were slaughtering indonesian people that (you said so) they were trying to help.

i can't say that my opinion is true, but at least that was written in the history books mate

Woooooow, its new for me knowing that the movement move to west sumatera and still live for the next 22 years!!
(FYI. Singgalang is a mountain lies in west sumatera)
as far as i know, your great pa movement was shut down in 1950.
i'm wondering what did he do in singgalang 1972??

The American government has been corrupted every now again you idiot, all countries are corrupt at one stage, even your freaking island chain has been run by corrupt leader. You are bending the truth to try and win a pointless arguement that you cannot win. The US has started over 3 wars in the past decade and even exported missile launchers to Syria to fuel the rebels in the civil war, the same civil war that has killed 90% of the countries of the population ( read news articles). If i'm not mistaken, indonesia's government is more corrupt than Australias, is thats the point your trying to pin on western cultures. The indonesian government tie people and order soliders to shoot them of they are found to posess drugs, while in Australia you get a fine, a jail term and rehabilation so you still get a second chance. And before you reply woth some BS from about how Australia occupied and went to war with Indonesia in the past, remember the west freed Indonesia from Japanase rule and that Indonesia started the malaysian emergency, Australia finished it.

Indonesia is going throuth the same process Australia went through in the 18th century where Australia murdered millions of the native Australians and now in the 21st century Australia has evovled a bit and gives the Native people some rights .

The Abroginal people in Australia have as mucn rights as any other australian. If an aboriginal family group informs the government that a certain part of Australia belonged to there ancestors, the Australian government lists the land in there name and they are free to get jobs and get an education as they please with racism towards them coming from the minority of the australian population, but racism is nothing unique to Australia. The disturbing thing about your comment is that you basically stated that the Indonesian government is killing millions of its natives and that Indonesia is inferior to Australia. And saying Australia has evolved a bit is an understatement, not only are we one of the healthiest countries on the planet,(ironic since were also one of the most obese in comparison), we also have one of the planets largest mining industries and one of the worlss best economies, I don't need to get started again on our military capabities, while the the majority of Indonesia and stayed as fishing villages. Please also research your facts before publishing them.

What stunt? Defeating platoon after platoon of indonesian soliders as we advanced deep into indonesian territory? I admit the australia defence force would have trouble pulling it off today just because of difference in army size, but Australia could still crush Indonesia in other ways. Eg. Air superioty (your air force has 60 jets with proven air-air capabilities, we have 110 with more on the way), we could cut off all youe trade routes and regualry bomb targets in Indonesia using the air force before retreating back into australian air space.

john: you must reactived ageing F 111 advark to perform air bombing to jakarta coz its only plane able to do it! F18?? you must have c130 tanker. and we will shoot down your c130... war will happend just in the sea border in timor gap area. only navy and airforce. the 2 country will suffer bog losses if the war happend. war probability only 1% i think....
