how about deleting a post you have made yourself? I have encountered this problem, and can't get any help with it. I just want to remove a comment I made- for the safety of children involved- can I get some help from anyone? THanks~
What I've done in some cases is click "report abuse" and write in "inappropriate".

But I do believe that there are "EDITORS TOOLS" for this.

Better to use the "Send a suggestion / Other feedback" link and simply say "Please delete my post," giving the link to it. They'll do it unless they can't verify that you posted it in the first place. Flagging it as inappropriate will only get it removed if you violated one of the Terms of Service--you don't do that, do you?

I think the Topix editors find the right balance more often than not. They sometimes leave posts in place even though they clearly violate the ToS, and I haven't been able to figure out the rationale, probably because they vary slightly from one admin to the next. My only gripe is that they don't delete entire threads with post number one as often as I think they should. Perhaps they should hire me--I'd move to California in a heartbeat.
Let me help you understand afew thing here on TOPIX.
The Editors don't have as much control as you think.
We(The TOPIX Editors)are unable to delete even our own mistakes.
But I will assure you, there's a debate in action on that exact issue.

So please,if possible, give us at least alittle more credit?

Mea culpa--I meant administrators. I hope you don't talk down to the members of your forum like that. Bullying people over minor slips is the mark of a very small mind.

No,I really bully my members around. I was just trying to be polite will stating a fact.
Besides, how was I suppose to know you meant "The Administrators"? LOL

I apologize if I offended anyone. It was not my intent.
Actually, your objective posts about the Editors not having the tools to control TOS violations just may help our fight.
Thank You

You see, I left out "don't" in my first sentence and can't go back and correct it.

Hi Danallendotcom,
The reason we do not allow users to edit their own posts is because we feel that it can potentially become disruptive to the thread. If someone decides to edit or even delete their post, it can ruin the flow of the thread.
The forums I admin or moderate on allow the time limit to edit on posts. You could set the limit for 1-3 minutes to allow us to go back and fix brain-farts and poorly worded posts. After that time expired, we'd be stuck with whatever we posted and you'd have your continuity of topics preserved.
Please consider doing this. It would be a huge help for those of us who have physical issues with typing or type faster than we think.

The Google toolbar has a spell check on it.
Okay, but actually I meant a preview (post) option before posting, I don't even use a spell check.

Daily Horoscope for May 19

Sagittarius

Channel all your frustrations from yesterday into your work today. It's the most constructive way to get things out of your system while achieving something worthwhile at the same time. You'll also get great satisfaction from doing things to the best of your ability, regardless of whether other people are watching or you're working on your own. Having said that, any praise will go down well.
