If readers are flagging posts, and Topix deems it offensive, they will remove the post. Anyone can do that, not just an Editor.

But these posts are not offensive. They are simple posts that are not demeaning anybody or putting anybody down. They have no TOS violations. Does Topix review posts before removing them?
Our Top Mods review all posts before removing them. Another reason why you might be seeing posts disappear is because the user may have been banned from the site entirely. They may be posting offensive posts on another forum and received multiple warnings. Also, they may be posting personal information about someone.

More than one person uses the computer in my house so more than one person goes onto Topix. One of the users, who doesn't have a profile, had a couple of incidents where their posts would disappear for a couple of days and then he was able to post again. There were no warnings, and it hasn't happened for awhile. Were these temporary "bans"? Or just something that occured for no reason? How does a person know they've been banned and for how long?

Anyone can remove? Or anyone can flag posts?

The editor is helpless in matters of removing. He can only post.

Hi Warren-

If you are seeing hate threads or profanity, send a link to the content to our Topix Moderators by clicking the "Feedback" link at the bottom of any Topix page and they can take a look!

Regarding your editor status, all editors are registered members of Topix that have been approved to be an editor by applying: http://www.topix.com/member/editor-applicatio...

Hope that helps!

Oh, the other thing is that the "EDITOR" and "I VOTED" icons sometimes show by mine and the other editors' names, but then other times, they don't. They come and go if you know what I mean.
And thank you for responding, I really appreciate it.
Hi Arnold-

Hi Jane-

I think this user meant that anyone can flag posts as abusive.

Only Topix Moderators have the ability to remove posts or threads; all Top Mods are full time, paid Topix employees that work here at our headquarters.

hope that helps!

We've been experiencing a few technical glitches lately that has caused content to disappear and later reappear - this is all fixed now!

It must not be "all fixed now" because the problem appears to be happening in the Gay/Lesbian category under Misc. News.

BTW, this lifestyle related category should not be in Misc. News, it should be in the proper LIFE category where it belongs. Most posts there are not "NEWS" related but opinions and comments.

THANKS for your consideration!

Your problem is just disappearing posts.

Did you mean reduction of number of comments?

Me, that's my case - and drastic at that.

What do you mean, Freedom of Speech?

Freedom of Speech is not absolute.

It depends on context. While you have the freedom to say what you like, you are accountable for it.
