from nydailynews:

"The leads were derived both from public information or obtained by the NYPD during 'specific authorized investigations,' Farrell added.

"For example, the NYPD investigated individuals members of the security team and the caretaker at the Masjid At-Taqwa mosque in Brooklyn which is a plaintiff in the suit for allegations of weapons trafficking and that the assistant imam 'earmarked' portions of over $200,000 in fundraising monies to a terrorist organizations, according to court papers.

"They found that members of the mosque security team also gave instruction on how to disarm cops, and conducted paintball exercises and survival training outside the city, during which the leader of the security team referred to members of his paintball squad as 'jihad warriors' and 'jihad assassins,' the filing said.

"The Masjid Al Ansar mosque in Brooklyn, where plaintiff Hamid Raza is the imam, was co-founded by 23-year-old wannabe jihadist Abdel Hameed Shehadeh of Staten Island, who was convicted plotting to join the Taliban or Al Qaeda."
