GDP is what people talk about when talking about rich/poor as it measures the income each people make in that country.

So if Indonesia ppl's per capita GDP is 4000 and Filipins is 3000, guess who's poorer?

besides a difference of 0.00001 barely matters

really goblok! you want an example? ok here, you know the country of South Africa indon? South Africa has a higher GDP per capita compared to your country Indonesia but still South Africa considered a poor and underdeveloped country in the world due to high poverty rates, low education index, low Human Development, low literacy rates and others. Be thankful, that despite South Africa has high GDP per capita than Indonesia, still Indonesia considered as more developed country. Hahahaha, that's I'm trying to explained, GDP per capita is also a way in determining whether the country is poor, but this is not the prime basis. The basis is that a country must improved its HUMAN DEVELOPMENT, EDUCATION INDEX, LITERACY and others. Look at your country, Indonesia is claiming to be more developed country than Malaysia or Filipina??? What, even the number of Indonesian who connected with the electricity is only 69% compared to Malaysia and Filipina which is almost 100%. Pwee! Kindly wake up the truth Indon, Indonesia is the most underdeveloped country in Southeast Asia.

why are you suddenly talking about south africa?

JUst so you know South Africa is even more developed than Indonesia and Philippines. It's on par with Thailand i believe. Their major problem is crime rate and corruption but aside from that the countrry is pretty much well regulated.

GDP is an accepted measure of how rich a country is worldwide. When somebody asks: How rich a country is? they don't talk about illiteracy rate, they don't talk about mortality rate, crime rate etc. They talk about GDP.

No matter how worse the poverty rate is, a GDP of 5000 is still larger than 4000. Thus even with the poverty over there, they still score 1000 more than the per capita GDP of a poor Indonesian aka their people is more productive aka they're more well off.

oh come on now, philippines compared to indonesia?

that's just insulting! the country is totally corrupt, their soldiers don't even have a jet fighter, 40% people under poverty and their president would rather collect thousands of shoes rather than fix the problem including the militancy down south. A country ruled by the church like medieval europe where divorce and birth control aren't even allowed, millions (eleven millions) of its population are forced to work abroad, msot as toilet cleaners in saudi arabia and problematic arabian countries like gaza. Now is that the kind of country that is 'richer' than Indonesia? lol please

Indon? wait, don't you aware that Filipina country has surpasses your poor country in corruption in a CPI in 2012??

Berlin-based Transparency International has released its annual Corruption Perceptions Index for 2012, with Indonesia sliding in this year’s rankings despite increased foreign investment and a bigger global profile.

Southeast Asia’s largest economy was ranked 118th out of 176 countries polled, down from 100th out of 183 the year before, and tied with Madagascar, Egypt, Ecuador and the Dominican Republic.

According to Transparency International’s website, the index “scores countries on a scale from 0 [highly corrupt] to 100 [very clean]. While no country has a perfect score, two-thirds of countries score below 50, indicating a serious corruption problem.”

Indonesia scored 32 on the scale. The anticorruption watchdog used nine surveys on the country to determine its ranking.

Transparency International Indonesia manager Franky Simanjuntak said on Wednesday that INDONESIA PERFORMED WORSE THAN THE PHILIPPINES THIS YEAR, which ranked 105th, when it had traditionally ranked lower than Indonesia.

But Vietnam, which fared better than Indonesia last year, dropped to 123th position in the 2012 index.

Most other countries in the region, including Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, again performed better than Indonesia, at 5th, 54th and 88th, respectively.

Laos finished at 160th and Myanmar at 172nd.

Franky said this year’s score could not be compared with those in previous years, which used a scale from 0 to 10. Indonesia scored 3.0 in 2011.

“We use a different method now. And with this new method, starting from this year we can compare year-on-year scores,” Franky said, adding that the previous method did not actually allow comparisons of year-on-year figures.

“But with the 30-something score, we can say that Indonesia remains in the cluster of countries with significant corruption problems, relative to other countries surveyed,” he added.

Denmark, Finland and New Zealand shared the 1st position in this year’s rankings, scoring 90, followed by Sweden and Singapore.

Afghanistan, North Korea and Somalia shared the bottom place, scoring 8 each.

Well, maybe this is because Indonesians were the most corrupt people in Southeast Asia. Ohhh> I forgot, the scandal in Bali Airport where the Indonesian Police tried to bribe the Canadian Actor asking for an IPHONE??? LOL, what a stupid Indog police... ignorant and most corrupt law enforcers in Asia.

frankly speaking all Filipinos working abroad were professionals. Not like many poor Indogs here in Malaysia working here as 'MAIDS', janitors, vendors are others. At least, Filipinos are hardworking people, not like Indons who were lazy. That's why their country is lagging among SEA country.

You would consider rich in Indonesia if you can eat dried fish 3x a day. And ohh, even your work their is maid in abroad you can consider in Indonesia as rich, hahahahahahahaha.

Hey? Indognesiansss? where not poor as you think... if your talking about the fighter jets, we ordered 12 F-18 fighter jets from US.
Philippines seeks 12 F-16 fighter jets from US
MANILA, Philippines—An official says the Philippines will seek a squadron of F-16 fighter jets and a third coast guard ship from longtime ally Washington amid simmering territorial disputes in the South China Sea.
Foreign Secretary Albert del Rosario said Wednesday that he and the defense chief will meet their US counterparts in Washington next year to discuss the requests.
Del Rosario said the requests for 12 F-16 fighter jets and a third coast guard cutter have already been relayed to American officials and their initial response was encouraging.
Washington has provided a coast guard cutter and agreed to send another one to the Philippines, which is locked in territorial disputes with China and four other governments.
Philippines Orders South Korean TA-50 Jets.
With new territorial challenges facing the Philippines and an antiquated military force riddled with inefficiencies, the Philippine’s ABS-CBN news released a report on 20 June that the Philippine Air Force (PAF) has decided to acquire twelve South Korean TA-50 trainer/fighter jets.
The news report indicates that the aircraft are being offered at a price of $29.8 million per unit with a total package cost of $591.3 million. This purchase is part of a Filipino modernization program estimated to cost a total of $1.5 billion. This acquisition will include spare and replacement parts, training, necessary technical support, and other necessities required to get the aircraft operational.
Philippine Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin told ABS-CBN news that modernizing the PAF’s air defense capabilities is an urgent priority in light of recent territorial disputes with China and is needed to polish the nation’s international image.
RH-BILL SIGNED INTO LAW.
President Benigno Aquino III signed into law Republic Act No. 10354 or the "Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act of 2012" Friday last week, December 21, according to a copy obtained by Rappler.
It was signed without fanfare, confirmed House Majority Leader Neptali Gonzales II on Friday, December 28.
On Saturday, December 29, Malacañang issued a statement saying:
"The passage into law of the Responsible Parenthood Act closes a highly divisive chapter of our history—a chapter borne of the convictions of those who argued for, or against this Act, whether in the legislative branch or in civil society. At the same time, it opens the possibility of cooperation and reconciliation among different sectors in society: engagement and dialogue characterized not by animosity, but by our collective desire to better the welfare of the Filipino people.
This is the mark of a true democracy: one in which debate that spans all levels of society is spurred by deeply-held beliefs and values, enriching and elevating public discourse, as we all work together to find ways to improve the lives of our fellow citizens."
The RH law provides universal access to reproductive health care services and information, which do not prevent the implantation of

first, signing in and then signing out isn't going to help your post

second, PROFESSIONALS??? professional con artist is more like it

lol so many Filipinos selling themselves in Sabah, Geylang, Chow Kit and you as a 'Malaysian'(though i know better) haven't realized it? Have you ever wondered why many Indonesians chose to be maids rather than Filipinos who prefer to earn the easy money through selling themselves 'live' or through 'matchmaking website' in Malaysia and Singapore and not to mention Hong Kong, Jeddah, Qatar and so many other countries?

11 millions is like 10% of your population, and with a poverty rate of 40% your nation that 'ovrseas Filipinos' are the so-called 'professionals' seems a little bit farfetched. It makes me wonder if that many Filipinos are professionals (11 millions) why in the hell is the couuntry (Philippines) is worse than Indonesia? Could it be that the 10% is indeeed porfessional and those whom they have so gratefully left behind (90%) are the idiots? lol

Come on, you're really fitting all the Filipino streotype here, the sense of 'pride', such bullshit. I've encountered your kind a couple of times here. And they also like to boast about their country and their so-called 'pride' a lot, when the truth is they live...or work, in projects. Even when another Indonesian poster have explained the meaning of GDP to you, you still deflected it

lol iphone, that made me laugh too but you won't believe what your military generals demanded to the American military when they gave you their fighter planes.

do i need to start copying and pasting Philippines' corruption cases here too?

and lol you BOUGHT f-16? i guess your relationship with Uncle Sam isn't as good as what you people made it out to be. Guess what? Uncle Sam just GAVE us not one, not two but TWO DOZENS f-16 for us to use. How does that sound?

It's gonna be sweet addition to our jet fighter fleet consisting brand new sukhois (already delivered), the upcoming sukhoi PAK-FA (the real deal) and the Indonesian and Korean made jet, the KF-X and...also some submarines that i've just noticed absent in Philippines' navy?

i assure you, you're going to need one though to at least make China think twice about claiming Spratly. We're just going to stand by though, in case you need some help. hahahahaha
