John, long time. I was visiting in your neck of the woods there in Schuylkill County a while back. Visited Locust Lake S. P. and Mahanoy City. I didn't make it to your town, Pottsville. I was so impressed with the coal mining in the area that I took the tour of the museum and the 190 Slope mine up in Scranton.
John, probably one of the greatest stories of crooked, greedy capitalists ruining the land was the unbelievable Knox Mine Disaster in 1959 between Wilkes-Barre and Scranton. I still cannot believe they dug out under the Susquehanna River. That mine flood ruined mines all up and down the river, and basically put an end to deep anthracite mining in the region.
As a Republican, it must sicken you to think that greedy businessmen ruined a natural resource, and irretrievably damaged the economy in Pennsylvania. Maybe not.
I think the countryside is nice around Locust Lake. The mining activity around Mahanoy City is not very nice looking, however. Apparently there was no coal under the valley where Locust Lake is situated, or else that area would be all dug up like the areas around Mahanoy City.
One thing that impressed me were the many Eastern European family names around the area, apparently lots of Polish folks settled there. I saw lots of R. C. churches. Those people were apparently descendants of the miners who came to mine the anthracite before the crooked capitalists destroyed it all at the Knox Mine.
Another interesting story about the greedy capitalists folly is the heartbreaking story of the Twin Shaft mine disaster. Those greedy fools robbed the pillars and the whole mine collapsed? At least there was some justice, as the mine bosses were killed along with the poor, innocent miners.
John, at least the great part of the Pennsylvania anthracite mining history is the story of the absolutely fantastic guy who came along after the Twin Shaft disaster to save the miners: John Mitchell. I guess Republicans and capitalists don't have much use for Mitchell, but he sure made a lot of miners'(and their families') lives much, much easier.
As a Republican, I guess you always pulled for the mine owners against the miners. Maybe you figured those miners were lazy bums, because they didn't work hard enough to save enough to buy their own mines. But maybe, John, just maybe you know some of those miners, and you know they get cheated by the coal companies, and maybe you feel a little sorry for the hard working miners. Or maybe not.
Anyway, John, good to see you on here and after visiting and learning a lot about your stomping grounds, I just had to write. We may not see eye-to-eye politically, John, but I bet we both have some deep admiration for the wonderful and fascinating history and people of Schuylkill County, PA.
Oh yes Mahanoy City. Where cable TV was started. Making Fox News and CNN possible.

"The company was started in 1948 in Mahanoy City by John Walson, who owned a General Electric appliance store. At the time, the surrounding mountains in Schuylkill County made over-the-air reception from Philadelphia television stations difficult. Walson, who was interested in selling television sets through his store, solved the problem by building an antenna on top of the mountain overlooking the town. He initially ran a cable to his warehouse and then to his appliance store, using boosters to enhance the signal. Along the way, he hooked up neighbors to the antenna system.[2] Although there are others who have laid claim to the honor, Walson is often recognized for having built the first cable TV system in the United States.[3] Until Walson's death, the company was known as Service Electric Cable TV, Inc., which was based in Bethlehem."

No, I read that the biggest museum was the one in the park at Scranton, also where the 190 Slope mine tour is located. I would have liked to have taken a tour of a working open-pit anthracite mine, but I was lucky to find the 190 Slope mine tour. It was unbelievably realistic, to enter a mine worked until the 1960s, and left in the condition it was in when last mined.

You live in a place with some great history, some great American stories, and I only wish I could have seen one of the old breakers.

If the roles were reversed and America was embroiled in a civil war would you want N. Korea or Iran dictating to the U.S.?
Unless there is a direct threat to the USA then let them fight it out. I could care less.

Used to be a big breaker outside of Mahanoy City. On the other side of town from Locust Lake on Rte 54.

Thanks for your "short cut" answer, but it does not answer "How those WTC Towers fell to ground on 9/11"?

So if the prime minister of canada or th president of mexico elects to gas 100k or 150k of its people it only makes sense that the we and the rest of the world need to keep our noses out of their internal affairs...isn't that the mindset that led to two world wars? IMO if a leader of any country elects to mass murder his own people, we have an obligation to react...and not wait unti the death count reaches 6 million...again

Your Welcome shortcuts save time.

Planners-Israel and Plotters-fractions of the CIA and USA military.

Who else would be able to obtain large amounts of demolition type explosives and gain private access to the WTC unnoticed.

The insurance pay out was astronomical.

Unfortunately the USA has changed since WW-2 and for the worst.
Mass murders are occurring on our own soil some people see it for what it is others turn away.

President Obama says GOP bills that would end the shutdown for select parts of the government are "not serious" and "no way to fund a government." But on Monday he signed a bill just like that, ensuring that the military keeps getting paid. "How can I put this delicately? This is wrong," writes David Dayen at Salon. "It's a slap in the face to the 800,000 federal workers who do not deserve unfair treatment because their uniform is a different color."
Ted Cruz was right to say that soldiers "should not have their paychecks held hostage." But neither should the "non-essential" public servants who save lives fighting disease and poverty. Or the "essential" air traffic controllers working without pay. Nor are soldiers alone in risking their lives—the FBI, CIA, and Forest Service firefighters are all feeling the shutdown pain. "It takes an exceedingly narrow conception of 'freedom' to claim that the only public servants who deliver it are the ones with guns and tanks." Giving the military special treatment sends the troubling message that it is "the superior function of the government, the only one worth protecting."
Huh?
Ask yourself a simple question: If Congress could vote on a "clean bill,” it would have prevented a shutdown. So why wasn't it allowed to vote? Because house speaker John Boehner had refused to let this vote occur. The loony T-Bag contingent knew how the vote would go and therefore did not want it to happen; and such is Boehner's fear of them, and fear for his job as Speaker, that he will not let it take place. If the House of Representatives could have voted on a "clean" budget bill -- one that opened up the closed federal offices but did not attempt to defund the Obama health care program -- that bill would easily pass, and the shutdown would be over. Nearly all Democrats would vote for it, as would enough Republicans to end the shutdown and its related damage.

MUQ, it appears your scientist friends never gave any credence to the height of the buildings.

Could it be possible that any building higher than 47 stories would collapse in its own footprint by fire and all the weight from the upper floors?

Seems like a plausible argument to me.

Yeah, they should put a warning to all buildings "over 47 floors".... Building subject to collapse without any warning. Be cautious about any one firing crackers near the building!!

It was a different world on the eve of 9/11, all laws were "suspended" for a few hours!!

Why WTC Collapsed on 9/11? Part-6

2000: January. Christopher Bollyn gets involved in a dispute at his local library when they initially refuse his request to stock Michael Piper's Final Judgment. He claims to have heard about Piper's book on the internet, and the controversy provides him with a pretext to leave his job at IBM Global Network Services, meet Piper and get involved with The Spotlight which is a critic of Israel and Zionism. Bollyn is recruited as a writer for The Spotlight by self-described Khazar Jerry Myers. More than a hundred Israelis pose as "art students"

(January 2000 - September 2001) and attempt to penetrate U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) offices and other federal buildings including 36 sensitive Department of Defense (DoD) sites.

May. Piper first "officially" meets the Bollyns in Chicago. At that meeting, Chris mentions that he smoked cigars, and the 1997 encounter comes flashing back to Piper as he realises that Chris and Helje were the striking couple that he'd seen in the cigar store, with the man saying in a squeaky American voice "Hey, cigars". In another bizarre experience, Helje Kaskel shows Piper her nude modelling photos as her husband looks on.

June 18. Eric Blane Hufschmid's half-sister Kathryn marries James Murdoch, son and heir apparent to billionaire Zionist media mogul Rupert Murdoch.

September. Rabbi Zakheim of SPC is amongst the signatories to Rebuilding America's Defenses, a report published by The Project for the New American Century (PNAC), which wrote of the advantages of a "new Pearl Harbor". November. Christopher Bollyn claims to have received a death threat, but there is no evidence to support the claim.

November 13. Eric Hufschmid posts a Usenet message exhibiting a rather Jewish sense of humor: "If you don't mind pornographic photos, this one makes you wonder what other areas the Palm Beach voters have trouble with." In Hufschmid's Usenet message (for more, see here or here), he links to a blog page that was subsequently archived at the Internet archives Wayback Machine, and it can be seen to include images of buttocks and an allusion to sodomy. The page also has a newer entry dated 2001 about "fart lamps".

Given that the page's URL and the email address at the bottom of that page contains Hufschmid's initials of ebh, and the writing style is consistent with that of Hufschmid, it is fairly clear that Hufschmid not only linked to the page, but also created it. The point to remember here is that Rupert Murdoch followed the same strategy of using sex and sleaze to make a name for himself.

2001: Fireproofing "upgrades" are being carried out at the World Trade Center's Twin Towers, as also occurred over several years pre-2001. The contract holder is Turner Construction, whose CEO is Tom Leppert. WTC tenants have been completing various modifications throughout the leased spaces.

January 20. George W. Bush is sworn in as president, and says, "We will confront weapons of mass destruction...". A clique of warmongers with strong attachments to Israel and PNAC are to achieve power in the Bush administration.

February 15. Rupert Murdoch's Fox TV network broadcasts a documentary entitled "Conspiracy Theory: Did We Land on the Moon?" This weak conspiracy theory has plenty of evidence against it, and very little to support it. The broadcast would help to deflect attention from any actual major criminal conspiracy that might be imminent, by branding those who exposed the crime as "conspiracy theorists" - particularly if someone were to conflate the "Apollo hoax" theory with the real conspiracy.

Contd.
