So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.

Seems this article is focused on crazed nuts who are allowed to legally own guns...the real question is by banning large clip weaponry, will this do a dammmmmm thing to keep them out of the hands of those who can't legally own guns anyway? A resounding no...
New York City expects to record its lowest number of homicides since record-keeping began in 1963, reports AP. The city has had 414 this year, down nearly 20% from last year and well under the previous low of 471 in 2009. The city also has seen 1,353 shootings, again well below the previous low of 1,420 in 2009. Mayor Bloomberg and police credit the controversial "stop and frisk" policy in part for the numbers.
• Chicago has hit the unfortunate milestone of 500 homicides this year, reports the Tribune. It's a "tragic number that is reflective of the gang violence and proliferation of illegal guns that have plagued some of our neighborhoods," says the police superintendent. It's also the first time in four years the city has hit the 500-mark, though the Trib points out that Chicago had nearly twice that number in 1992. The city had 435 homicides last year, notes AP.
You have provided your side of the argument based on more people in jail yet more people killed by guns. Many stats contradict what you say other than those areas that have HIGH gang activity. Question: if you subtract gang related killings from the stats what will this reveal? That gun related killings have exponentially gone DOWN.?
That statement is also known as a brain-fart!

While it is unfortunate what happened in Newtown, the bottom line is no matter what laws you impose on those that ALL READY abide by the laws, those that don't abide will not be impacted by any new laws...do you see gangs complying with your new laws francis?

So with all we know as scientific fact today...exactly HOW does our sun stop? Stopping sun's and splitting moon's...all stories brought to you by muddle eastern religious zealots...starting to see the trend yet?

Fear not francis...the issue is in good hands now...the school should have known the risk of Adam...
The family of a 6-year-old girl who survived the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary aims to sue the state for $100 million, reports the Hartford Courant. The girl, identified only as Jill Doe, has been traumatized, says her lawyer. "She was in her classroom, and over the loudspeaker came the horrific confrontation between the fellow who shot everybody and other people," says attorney Irving Pinsky. "Her friends were killed. That's pretty traumatic."

It is the first legal action to stem from the shooting, notes Reuters. Because the state has "sovereign immunity" from most lawsuits, Pinsky must get permission to sue from the state claims commissioner, and he filed the papers on Thursday. The state's education department failed to protect kids from "foreseeable harm," according to the claim. "Usually a fellow like Adam Lanza would have been known as a potential problem to the police," says Pinsky.

The number of gun fatalities has declined in the past years but the number of people killed by firearms in the United States remains way high. To claim that gun ownership is declining is complete bunk look at the numbers! According to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report, between 2006 and 2010 47,856 people were murdered in the U.S. by firearms, more than twice as many as were killed by all other means combined.

There are more than 130,000 federally licensed firearms dealers in the United States. Compare that with a 144,000 gas stations nation wide or 37,000 grocery stores – are you getting the picture here? The US has the highest gun ownership rate in the world – there are 89 guns for every 100 Americans, compared to 4 in UK and Canada. The murder figures are astounding; the Brits show around 550 murders per year. In 2011 there were 12,664 murders in the US, 8,583 were caused by firearms.

The ATF reports, last year there were 5,459,240 new firearms manufactured in the United States, nearly all (95 percent) for the U.S. market. An additional 3,252,404 firearms were imported to the United States. If you don’t have a criminal record and you have not been adjudicated as mentally incompetent, you can buy guns. In 2010 the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) ran 16,454,951 background checks for firearms purchases, only 0.48 percent) were denied.

Global Peace and Security

President Obama and Mankind at Crossroads

By Mahboob A. Khawaja, PhD.

"I face the world as it is," President Obama explained at the Oslo Nobel Peace Award ceremony (December 10, 2009), but refusing to renounce the war for his nation or under his leadership, saying that he is obliged to protect and defend the United States. But Obama misled the informed and conscientious global intellect as no nation is threatening the American people or their security.“No matter how justified, war promises human tragedy”, he said. Norman Soloman ( Commondreams.Org )“Mr President War is not Peace”, Dec 10, 2009), questions the intent and eloquence of Obama’s speech and strikes a warning note:
“War is not peace. It never has been. It never will be…….in the name of pragmatism, Obama spoke of “the world as it is” and threw a cloak of justification over the grisly escalation in Afghanistan by insisting that “war is sometimes necessary”-- but generalities do nothing to mitigate the horrors of war being endured by others.”

America’s political elite so often remembers Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to fill the moral and intellectual blanks but neglects his advice:“The chain reaction of evil... wars producing more wars... must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation.” In a war propelled economy of the few, and given the US history of wars for more than 220 battlefield engagements in its two centuries of evolutionary history and the perpetuated insanity of the warlords to make more wars, Mike Prysner (“Amazing speech by an Iraq war veteran”: 12/25/2009), an Iraqi War veteran has these daring observations to share with the informed and concerned humanity:

“Our real enemy is not the ones living in a distant land whose names or policies we don't understand; The real enemy is a system that wages war when it's profitable, the CEOs who lay us off our jobs when it's profitable, the Insurance Companies who deny us Health care when it's profitable, the Banks who take away our homes when it's profitable. Our enemies are not several hundred thousands away. They are right here in front of us.”

To reconstruct a different and more sustainable future for the besieged humanity, it is incumbent upon the intellectuals, academics, visionaries, poets, philosophers and the thinking people of the Universe to perceive and articulate new and creative ideas, new political imagination for the 21st century organizations to be functional for the people, by the people and accountable to the supremacy of the people’s will.

Time and encompassing opportunities warrant New Thinking, New Leaders and New Visions for change and the future-making. But change and creativity and new visions will not emerge out of the obsolete, redundant and failed authoritarianism of the few insane leaders. A reflection on the on-going wars and resulting destructions in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Arab Peninsula, Israel and Palestine clearly demonstrate leadership madness, insanity and aggression to the principles and norms of the UNO charter and human rights values guaranteed for peace, security and co-existence.

The consequences of Man’s cruelty to Man confirm how closely the Western leaders collaborate with the oil-pumping Arab dictatorial regimes and others so called democracies to betray the interest of the global community.

As far as I am concerned the socalled ten commandments are of course of no value to me!

1. Yes, one should wait and watch and see the result of fight between the forces of truth and falsehood.
2. It is your "misconception" that Islam does not gives "right" to women. In fact it was islam which gave women "rights". Before islam, women only had "duties" but no rights.
But now the Western world has taken top another extreme. First they debated whether women have any rights? Now they have gone to "another extreme" and started saying "Men and women are exactly equal to each other, so they both should have same rights".
This is an extreme position and unreasonable and illogical as the first position that women have no rights.
Islamic position is the middle path, al always. It says that men and women are made complimentary to each other and not as "direct competitors against each other".
Women have different duties and men have different duties and each have rights and responsibilities in their respective areas.
The western concept of women rights, puts double burden on them and destabilizes the family structure. In Islam it is the family which is basic unit of human civilization and men and women are one who constitute a family.
3. I advice you to focus less on Iran and its economy and worry more about your own economy. What Iran is suffering is the result of your country's biased attitude towards it. The same thing they did to Iraq and Libya before it.
04. The 'Universal calendar" provided by our Creator is the Lunar Calendar which is the basis of dates for Festivals in all societies of the world from time immemorial.
The so called "Scientific Solar Calendar" has taken so many twists and turns from its origin to its present shape, that it amazes if any one can call it "scientific".
But we follow both the Calendars, 1434 H for our religious dates and Ramadhan and Hajj and 2012 for dealings with other people.
We get "best of both worlds"!!
Do you have any children Muq? I'm sure your daughter would appreciate you telling her she cannot be all that she can be...that allah has different purposes for her...

Agreed with what you say about Iran...same as Iraq and Libya...do you see the same end results as those first two examples taking place in Iran? I do...

So the creator gave you your lunar calendar, eh? I'll be darned, well, I wonder who gave it to the chinese thousands of years before muslims began their exploitation of the world or centuries upon centuries before some desert wanderer created a myth of a moon splitting in half...how did the chinese get the original lunar calendar from the creator?

Socialist countries have no interests in war. War brings no superprofis for them, but is anything of value for a socialist system at all! Only peace is acceptable to them and is of everlasting value for the people.

I see you compare a country the size of New York with the entire USA...lets go apples with apples...New York has 10000 percent more guns in the hands of civilians than does Great Britian yet the nurder rate is lower...how do you rationalize that, francis? Or do you just continue to marginalize it to suit you?

550 murders in a country with 4 guns per 100, that seems quite high doesn't it? I mean in light of guns killing people and not people killing people...how is this possible?
