We'll murder police, says Real IRA

Apr 25, 2011 Full story: This Is Lancashire 211

The Real IRA has threatened to "execute" police officers and warned that the Queen's first visit to the Republic of Ireland is an "insult". But the dissident republican group behind the latest threat to police officers in Northern Ireland was criticised for being "morally and politically bankrupt". A statement from the terrorist group was read by a ...

Yeah but it wasn't a viable option at the time. But to say because Northern Ireland came into existence we didn't win the War of Independence is clutching at straws.
Look at Northern Ireland since 1922. It hasn't exactly kept up with the Republic if you know what I mean....
There was no real war....there were no pitched battles....it was a dirty guerrilla campaign where many Irish people were murdered by their own countrymen. The free state government executed and interned far more people than the British ever did.

Yeah as things stand of course. But Northern Ireland has been a financial drain on the UK since 1922, they have never gone it alone, they are afraid of independence. But the protestants up there are shrinking in number every day. Kind of a natural process. In about 50 years your population will be decimated, and by your own hands......

<quoted text>Why do you think NI remained British? Was it because NI was fully industrialised and the free state wasn't?Look at the ROI now....bankrupt.The only time your economy thrived is when you joined the EU and received all the subsidies you could. The celtic tiger has now died and you will all have to pick up the pieces. The population in NI have a good enough life now compared to you....that is what angers the gangs of dissident republicans who still try to force a united Ireland by murdering and maiming Catholic police officers and unarmed soldiers. At the time of partition and for many years afterwards,NI was an industrial goldmine. The republicans who lived in the North took all the benefits of the British state and gave nothing in return.
It was because of the presence of colonialist setttlers in Ulster. Haha and to think these Protestants thought WE down south couldn't survive without Belfast? Ha a rusting old city today in comparison to Dublin which is about 10 times the size of it. Your economy NEVER thrived you've been subsidised by the British your whole bloody exostence since 1921 Northern Ireland has been on financial life support from Britain.

In the Republic we still have a FAR better safer more secure life and FUTURE than you lot in Northern Ireland. MORE educated people, MORE huge multinational companies, better standard of living in the Republic than the whole of the UK never mind little Northern Ireland. Won't see any peace walls in Dublin eh? Nor do our politicians call eachother ''scum'' on live television. You do understand your all a laughing stock to the English and most of the southern Irish?

Well then why was it so hard for Catholics to get a fair vote? Or equal access to housing? Or equal access to jobs? Haha whats more the Catholics try to march peacefully for their rights in Western Europe, in a part of the UK, and your lot who where INCAPABLE of governing yourselves dealt with things like Arab dictators. Shooting people dead, burning down people's homes, throwing bricks etc at marching women and children.

But when the sh*t hit the fan, how come the IRA where the paramilitary bosses in Northern Ireland? While all the others crumbled.....

Yeah but the Free State government are the same ones that kicked the British out. The British lowered the Union Flag, the tricolour was raised. They evacuated military barracks across the country surrendering them to Irish Free State forces, most of Ireland left the UK. And the rest is history.....

And in Northern Ireland during the 1921-1922 period your lot didn't also engage in guerilla tactics?

Haha pitched battles? You cannot be serious.

Dubbadub.you claim in another post to be a student.....a student of what?It certainly isn't history, economics or truth.Britain pulled out of southern ireland because it was a desolate sh@thole.The Northern counties had all the industry such as shipyards, mills and factories and were a viable concern...unlike the free state.FFS the British had to lend the free state army their artillery during your civil war after partition.Your lot even ruinedthe best hope you ever had when they ambushed and murdered Michael Collins.Read some factual books before you start spouting off such crap. What an eejit.

Britain was forced out of Southern Ireland after a liberation struggle.

Yeah because the Northern counties where given more attention by the British. In saying that Belfast was an industial city, Dublin in Georgian times was the fifth largest city in Europe, and right up till 1921 was the administrative centre of the British empire in Ireland. This is seen in Dublins achitectural beauty in comparison to Belfast. Today Belfast is more of a ''town'' in comparison to Dublin....

Dublin was ranked 26th best city in the world to live in recently. Ahead of any UK city.

Belfast barely made it into the top 100.

Yeah they gave us some artillery, and? They gave the same people that booted them out of the country weapons to fight insurgents. So what?

Home Rule had already been given in 1914.

Was de Valera laughing when the Luftwaffe bombed Dublin?

The British army never took part in the terrorist campaign of 1919-1922. The Black and Tans were police auxillaries.

So glad about the Famine and the IMF bailout.

Carson admitted in 1921 that partition was a failure and he was a mere Tory pawn.
