Sorry but I really disagree. Please stop treating us like a sterotype.<quoted text>
Yes, and in the boy scouts and wherever men think they can find young boys and girls for exciting sexual encounters.
And that includes family nudist camps/colonies.
Of course, no one is constantly preoccupied with sex in those environments, but they guys who insist it's all about sun, waves and familyfun are dishonest.
they are there under the guise of that all-american umbrella
FAMILY, which makes it all ok to look at all the little titties and hairless pussies.
Actually I DO think, speaking for myself only, it is all about sun, waves, and family fun. And I am NOT dishonest about it. Do not accuse me of being dishonest.
It isn't an "either/or." It really is possible for someone to be a nudist without sexualizing the experience. That is not to deny the sexual aspect of the human body, but for crying out loud, people are more complex than simply stating that all nudists want to be naked for some kind of sexual thrill.
Frankly I am tired of your anti-American attitude. If you are REALLY worthy of the level of academics you claim, then stop being so closed-minded and let us speak for ourselves. If you are a serious scholar (and I will assume that you are) then stop writing the script in your own mind that Americans as a whole are as repressed, hypocritical, and puritanical as you suppose.
Do yourself a really big favor and allow yourself to question your own presuppositions. There are nuances. Focus on those.
On a personal level I am sorry if I am being harsh. I don't mean to be. I don't mean to offend or hurt you. Quite the contrary. You are a young person and I don't blame you if you base your beliefs on what you have experienced so far or what others have told you. I will give you HUGE kudos for providing real intellectual fodder for this discussion.
I will agree to a point that my views are an exception to the rule in this country. That said, the truth is that there is a huge shift right now as to how Americans can and should view sexuality. It is fascinating to watch this shift and I hope you are willing to examine that aspect too.
