Girls, where was your first nude group shower

I played women's soccer in high school and college. Although we had private shower stalls in high school, in college the shower area was open without any dividers. Lockers and benches were at one end of the locker room, and the opposite end was tiled with shower heads along the three walls and on shower columns in the middle. It felt awkward at first, the entire team showering together naked. But over time, the group nudity became more comfortable.

My first group shower was at school after PE and games lessons. I agree with Diane above, you soon become used to it and there was a group of us who loved it. There were others though who never liked it - one of those things really.

I'm male, so perhaps this pole is not for me, but I recall that my sister and her friends used to make any excuse not to shower after PE at school.
We never had showers at junior school, it was only when we turned eleven and went to senior school that it was conpulsory to shower after playing football or doing PE. We were all very self concious at first, particularly one lad who was much more advanced the most of us. At eleven years old, is penis was much larger than the rest of us and he had a thick growth of pubic hair. Just a handful of the others had the first signs of fuzz developing around the base of their penis. Once the initial embaracement was overcome, it became a bit of a competition, who would be first to signs of growing-up. For my part, I didn't get my first fuzz until I was 12 and my first actual pubic hair at 13 (about average)

Although it did feel a little awkward the first time I was naked with my college teammates, we were older so at least we all had boobs and hair between our legs. But recently I did feel self-conscious the way you describe. I joined a new gym, and when I went to shower the first time, out of the 4 or 5 women in the showers, I was the only one without pubic hair! I shave completely, but all the others had full bush.

My Freshman yr in HS, they started making us all take showers after PE class. Most of us were just atarting to develop and there was a wide variety of pubes and boobs. I got used to it quickly as my mom had wandered around nude when my sis and I were younger. She had said it was natural. By my Jr/Sr yr because I was a cheerleader, I was exempt from PE. Now when I am at the gym or club locker rooms, we have stall showers w/o curtains and everyone wears a towel around so I do to, more out of conformity than anything else.

Hi Stacy: It seems as though people have had different experiences with this depending upon the time period in which you grew up, geographical location, etc. Roughly when were yoi in high school? Midwest, West, East? Were there privacy dividers in the shower room, or just one big room with shower heads on the walls or columns with showers on them? How did classmates react? Just curious.

In the US, at what age do you enter your Freshman year in HS? What proportion of your piers already had pubes or boobs? Were you one of the early developers who already had pubes or boobs? If not did you feel embarassed or jealous of those who had?

I can't answer for Stacy, but when I first showered with a group of girls, I was at age 18 a college freshman, and the other girls on my team were between 18 and 21 and also obviously already developed. Of course, there was a great variety in size of boobs, and also in amount of pubic hair. Most of the freshmen, myself included at that time, had full bushes whereas most of the upperclass girls were shaved. I liked the shaved look, and took the plunge over spring break. I've been bare since. By senior year, almost everyone on the team was bald, or had a tiny landing strip or small triangle.

High school after PE was the start. We had this big burly gym teacher that looked like an aging 55 year old man. With the salt and pepper hair, golf shorts and shirts, the whole nine yards. She used to stare through the glass in her office. It creeped me out, so, many stopped taking showers when she was in charge. Luckily, the teachers switched each quarter. That lady was creepy.

For most people here in the US, Freshman in HS are 13-14 and a few 15. I was 14, having had my birthday in early August. Most of us had some sort of fuzz growing for pubes, obivously some had more than others. I'd say I was right in the middle, by the end of the year I had a full bush though. As for boobs, mine filled out that year. Just before I turned 15, I noticed that I had grown bigger than my older sis and that I was getting more and more attention from the guys.
Since I was in the middle range, I felt compfortable at that time, now had I not developed more, then I might have felt uncomfortable.

It was in Upstate NY that I was a Freshman, and even though it was a more modern school building, the shower room walls were lined with shower heads, no privacy. Most of us used the loccker door as a shield while undressing, then wrapped a towel around us. In the shower, we all faced the wall and quickly washed off, trying not to get our hair too wet, since we didn't have blowdryers. I wasn't that uncomfortable about, but I did what most did to fit in.

Junnior High was the first time that I showered nude in communal showers. But I was used to seeing women and other girls showering nude in the locker room at the Y that I would swim at with my mother and sister.

After the first shower or two in Junior High it was no big deal at all, at least for me anyway.
We were also required to shower in High School, but by that age we were totally used to it and wanted to be able to shower anyway. The women's locker room at my gym now is pretty casual about nudity. Some women will go change in one of the toilet stalls, but the biggest majority don't seem to be shy.

In the UK, we entre senior school at 11/12 years old, so I guess, at the time that we first experience group showers, there is a much wider sread in the degree of development amoung our peers?

It's the same way at my gym. Most don't care that others see them nude. We don't have changing booths or shower stalls as some clubs do, but just lockers, benches and an open shower room, so there isn't much choice. Most women don't even bother wrapping themselves in a towel, but just take off their clothes at their locker and walk nude to and from the showers.
