I'm sure you are. Mike C. is a war hero, a disabled war hero, and yet you continue to impersonate him, trying to be funny telling the same joke over and over again.

Hey - I'm 41 and I know who Roy Rogers is!!!
Can't they find another museum along the route (doesn't have to be in California) to store and/or display all the artifacts?

I know of so many buildings along the route that the local State Associations are trying to save but the biggest complaint is 'what to do with these buildings we just saved...'

It seems (another) Roy Rogers Museum (and not another Route 66 Museum) would seem to be a natural fit for one of these saved buildings.

Just a thought.

War hero? Try war zero. Jane Fonda saw more action than Mike C.

I went to this museum as a child. They sold me a suede pouch full of rocks that were painted to resemble gold.

My dad got a kick out of it though.

Uncle Ron, Evidently, you ate the rocks, and they went to your head.

Nowadays - the only way to get our kids to appreciate those 'painted gold rocks' is to put them on Wii or PS3!!!

I grew up in Apple Valley, and I knew the Rogers personally. I knew them well enough to know that Roy can be a horse's ass at times. Dale rounded his edges and made Roy more bearable among friends.
Dusty (aka Roy Jr.) did everything he could to keep the museum open in Victorville, but the cold hard fact was that Roy's fans were getting older and they weren't visiting the museum anymore. Visitors dropped off to almost nothing after Roy died and the museum was barely running in the black even before he died. Dusty tried to develop a hospitality center with the museum as the anchor, but the local water district wanted to charge outrageous fees which killed the project at the 11th hour. Moving to Branson was a last ditch effort to preserve the museum, which obviously didn't work out.
I know that Roy and Dale's children their grandchildren and close friends are 100% behind Dusty's decision. We knw that Dusty did everything he could to preserve his dad's and step mom's legacy for the public. He certainly doesn't deserve the ridicule from ignorant reporters who don't get their facts straight and/or have the decency to call Dusty and get his side of the story.
I don't this thread is 2 years old but why did the family move and the Museum to Branson especially since they moved to a palce were the weather wasn't as nice?
