Dear EJ Pommen,
Contact the Maytag Corporation. I just checked.... Yes, the appliance that we have is dangerous and faulty. It could burn you or your house down... There is a dnagerous wiring problem in the MDB7100AWW models. The Maytag corporation is willing to do a free home repair (rewiring of the appliance) at your convenience. Please email the following address: https://repair.maytag.com/repair/default.jsp to set up an appointment. They are also willing to provide you with a $75.00 cash voucher after you have sent in the receipt for your new dishwasher and have shown them proof that you have thrown away your old one... I know that it's not a lot... That is why I have decided to... I decided to keep my old one, and I am going to ask the technician... for a bit more service... to try to unclog the dishwasher. Good luck. Patti Magnusson pamagnusson@comcast.net |

Just got off the phone for the THIRD TIME with Maytag Canada. I placed my original order over six weeks ago when the recall was announced. I placed the second order three weeks ago when the repair person told me that a lot of the original orders were lost. At that time, I was told that it would take 5-10 business days to get the part. Still haven't received it and called again today and was told that "they didn't have my order and would priority it and to please call back after Wednesday for the status". This was after waiting on ignore for fifteen minutes.
If you have ordered the part and haven't gotten it in ten days, I would call back because these people bring a new definition to the word "incompetent"! I certainly won't be buying any more appliances from Maytag!!!!!!!!!! |

Feb. 1-start calling Maytag recall line.
Feb. 8-Finally get comfirmation from repair service they received fax from Maytag. Feb. 13-Repair kit arrives for Maytag DWU 9962 AAB Feb. 14-Set up appointment for repair service to install kit Feb. 16-receive call from Maytag that kit will not work on my dishwasher; would I accept a new dishwasher MDB 9601 AWS instead; asked me to work with them; was lead to believe they would get back with me after I looked up new dishwasher on internet to see if I would accept. I agreed to work with them March 9-after hearing nothing from Maytag, I call and am told that someone will contact me within 24-48 hours. March 12-a.m. call from Maytag tells us to call local dealer for dishwasher to be delivered (local dealer informs us Maytag gave him wrong telephone number and he could not find us); Local dealer installs dishwasher March 15-on first use, dishwasher leaks water on kitchen floor and down on desk, carpet, files, toys saved for grandchildren to grow into, new Christmas decorations purchased to use last Christmas but never used due to illness in family. March 16-local dealer advises that the pump is leaking. It is too late in day to reach Maytag. March 19-request that a new dishwasher be sent to replace this one. Request refused they will "overnight" a new pump. March 20-new pump arrives and local dealer called to put it on. Promises to come that day. March 23-local dealer advises new pump will not work on dishwasher (Maytag sent wrong pump) March 26-call again request that they send us a new dishwasher. Maytag refuses. They want to send another pump. Meanwhile, local repair person says he will not come out again to install new pump. March 15- |

I might also add that both times I requested that since they promised a new dishwasher they send me a new one rather than one that had been repaired: I was informed that once the dishwasher was installed in my home, I had accepted it under the warranty. How could I read the warranty when it was inside the dishwasher that was sealed in a box when it arrived and the the instruction manual and warranty were in a sealed plactic bag given to me when the installer was leaving. I never even called to register the dishwasher. I don't usually register a product until I use it the first time.
My advice to anyone is to not trust Maytag for any reason. |

This is a nightmare! We have had numerous calls from them asking if we have received our parts, however we still, after almost 2 months, don't have them. We just placed our third order tonight. I think their plan is to make everyone go buy a new dishwasher with the measly $75 check. Sorry--not gonna happen here! We want it fixed sooner than later!

Tried to find out from Maytag if my dishwasher is on the recall list. I have not been able tofind out so far. I bought the dishwasher because I thought Maytag would stand behind its product, however it seems they do not care.
|
||||
Maytag does care... This recall was not even really disclosed to the public yet. Someone leaked this info out before parts procurment was in place so they have been slammed with calls before rthey were ready. Remembet 2.3 MILLION unit are involved. |

I received my letter four weeks ago tomorrow. Still no parts. A call to Maytag last week and they couldn't even tell me if they had been sent.
I'm also wondering about those who seem to have been notified in February sometime. I didn't get my letter until mid-March. Are some people more at risk than others? I've been happy with Maytag until now. No more. |

Okay, three weeks later and still do not have my part. When I called back on the Wednesday, I was told that there was no record of my previous call and then the same BS about my order being put in as a priority.
Will keep trying and hopefully I will get the part before I die! Now I understand why the Maytag repairman is so lonely. It's not that they don't break down, it's just that nobody can get the parts to fix them, so why call the repairman!!!!!! |
||||
I beg to differ about your statement that someone leaked the info. The recall was announced by the Consumer Product Safety Commission on 1 Apr 2007. Visit their web site and read it for yourself. Maytag set up the recall system and phone number. Don't tell me they did not expect 2.3 million people to start calling. Maytag set up the system where a caller must go through a lengthy voice response reply thing providing serial and model numbers, and then have to talk to a person who does not have access to all of the information that has just been provided to the voice response system. That system was designed by Maytag and it is a joke. Maytag bought the repair parts - notice that some people have actually received them. But they just did not purchase sufficient quantities. Most likely a case of attempting to save money hoping not too many people will find out about the recall. This recall is a tremendous expense and Maytag is cutting corners with insufficient parts on hand and a cheaply designed phone system to handle calls. Does all that sound like a company that cares about their customers, or a company that is trying to get out of their mess the cheapest way possible? |

Has anyone in Western Canada received this part for the dishwasher yet? I have called 3 times and have been waiting almost6 weeks now for the part. As of last night I was told to wait another 2 weeks and if I had not received the part to call back again!!! This is just so frustrating, the personnel answering these calls have not been at all helpful, one was actually very rude and told me that she has always washed her dishes by hand and implied that me being without was not a real hardship... Too bad I wasn't advised when I first bought the Maytag dishwasher, that I really did need one.

Well, we'll see. I just learned about this yesterday and called to find out that not only was my dishwasher included, it CANNOT BE REPAIRED. So they tried tossing the $75 deal at me. That's bogus and I told them I would not accept it. This is a $600-700 dishwasher that should last 20 years. I don't have the money for a new dishwasher. I was happily going along in life when Maytag decided that the product THEY made was DANGEROUS to me and my family. Since THEY created the DANGEROUS product THEY have an obligation to fix the problem by REPLACING it (including installation). 2.X million? I don't care. They need to make sure their products aren't dangerous before they sell them. They need to stand up and take responsibility for their products when they screw up. They have advertised for years their repairman was bored because their products are the best. Now that they have a problem they're running a $75 scam to bump their revenues. Maytag needs to repair those that can be repaired. Those that can't be repaired need to be replaced with a like-quality, new product. Anything short of that is FRAUD by Maytag. |

Hey Maytag guy... The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued the release on this problem on February 1, 2007. To say Maytag was not ready for this is an understatement. Maytag was well aware of the problem for many months and failed to put a system in place to properly handle it. The front line CSR's might as well be a voice recorded message advising consumers that "your parts have been ordered and are INDEFINATE BACK ORDER." "WE HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE" because that is what we the customer are being told! WTF Maytag???? |
|||
sorry this was released a few months ago and not by a leak... |

After reading these comments I am trying not to be disillusioned by the Maytag repair. The only way I found out about a recall was I happened to see an ad in the magazine section of the local sun. paper. Thanks for sending me a letter Maytag! I have been waiting for the parts, and they arrived yesterday. Now to line up a repairman. I surely hope no parts sent are missing. A few years back when GE recalled dishwashers that had been installed in a good-sized development near me, they - GE - REPLACED them with new dishwashers. What a noble company. What are we offered? A paultry $75. Boo to maytag.......never, ever going to buy another of their products. And, lucky me, I also have their washer/dryer. And Consumer Reports recommended them? Who can you trust?
|
||||
I wonder how many homes have caught fire while Maytag is getting the parts to fix this problem? I called 3 weeks ago and just called to check on the status of my part and was told that it has not been ordered yet. I received a letter confirming that they received my phone call and that the parts are on the way. So why do you suppose they would not order the part? |
