Hate to tell you that the crash rescue truck at FMN is not maned 24 hours as the tower is not opened 24 hours also. Also this aircraft was north of FMN near the San Juans not south or east as it would need to be to be between ALbq.and Colo.Springs.Famington has just been lucky when it comes to Emergencys -that luck will run out and they will have a mess on those SHORT EDGE of cliff runways!Just a matter of time.DROs runways are almost twice as long and half again as wide.
The CFR truck IS manned 24/7. The tower is open 0600-2200, but even when it's closed, DEN Center 118.57 can still provide assistance (like notify the CFR truck of an emergency).

Nothing is wrong with the government doing things to make sure efficient and competitive commerce takes place.
Enjoy the interesting weather,
You are sounding a little like me and that's getting to be a bit of a controversy in these posts. Not that you are me.. Not that you are you; but the conspiracy theory going around that seems to think there is only one poster in the world!

- I can agree; but government has long ago crossed the line and thinks they should be in business as opposed to slightly managing/encouraging it (& my acquaintances think I'm a screaming liberal!)

Yup, You Don't Know is correct...in the know needs to go back to school...per theMODERN DAY FAA FAR 121 operations requirements, the Striker/ARFF is manned 24 hours a day.

Back in the old days (when turboprops operated under Part 135 passenger operations) they could have gotten away with having a part time striker and only having ARFF there 1/2 an hour prior to and after scheduled service, but that was a long time ago.

Things change, new FAR's get written and airlines get reclassified. Learn the correct application of the rules before you spout off.

I bet your are flattered by the comparision. LOL
The government pushed the line when they broke up Standard Oil and crossed the line when they put Henery Ford through an inquisition.
Capitalism does need some governence, otherwise it would de-evolve into fuadalism. What we have now is nearing a comand economy.
Too bad that the emotional twits, panty wetters and self made victims can use the courts to push their failed notions.

Uncontrolled? KFMN is Class D airspace when the tower is open (0600-2200) and class E when the tower is closed (2200-0600). The only uncontrolled airspace there is, is class G, and it's not over KFMN.
I was referring to KDRO!
