France should be upset even though this is just a confirmation of spying by the US and not a revelation. I'm sure France and the rest of Europe have spied on the US as well. But the US meta data collecting basically winds up spying on a lot of innocent people who have nothing to do with spying, terrorism and/or crime.

Who are we to say we have the right to that information? Should we really expect the US allies to follow blindly?
