Governors' travel should be public. I do not understand how listing places he has already been would affect his security. Privacy? Sorry, buddy, but if we're paying for it, it should be an open book. The point is he admitted that VA has paid for trips he went on for the Dem Comm. Taxpayers have a right to know how often he has gone, where he went, and how much WE paid. In addition, I'd like to know how much time his administrative assistant is spending on things for the Dem. Comm. How about other resources that we are paying for to support his other job at the Dem. Comm? Phone bills, postage, etc. This stinks. When are we rid of him?

Regardless of whether Governor Kaine has a legal obligation to disclose the information sought, surely he should do so to promote transparency and accountability. Kaine's decision to take on a challenging leadership role in the Democratic Party even though the Commonwealth needs his full time attention has eroded public trust, and it is in his interests to reassure the people that he is doing his job as Governor.

The last time I checked, the position of governor was a full time job. Kaine should be obligated to reveal not only where his travels took him, but also who paid those expenses; airfare, hotel, meals, etc. The governor should also break down and make public his work schedule...hours/week spent working for the Commonwealth and hours/week spent working for his party.

According to what I have heard on the news, our esteemed Governor accepted the Dem. job as "part time" until his term in VA ended. Additionally he supposedly said any trips required for the Dem. job would be on his weekend/off hours. From what I read, the travel in question was done during the week and it is suspected that not only "our time" was used but VA money to fund it. He doesn't appear to even care to provide minimal evidence to clarify these issues. He apparently doesn't feel that he has to answer to Virginia residents. The egos of the new regime are very frightening.

I still think his travel and other related expenses should be an "open book." Especially since there is now controversy and speculation. Does he receive two paychecks for full time work? Good deal if you can get it.

I think voters should ask Deeds and McDonnell to promise that if elected they'll devote all their energies to serving as Governor of Virginia. Kaine (like Gilmore before him) has no business taking a part time job when he has so many responsibilities.
