When business executives get caught, they usually say it was a software error or glitch. Of course AT & T knew they were tracking users whereabouts. Now that the cat is out of the bad, they'll probably create some other app that might do the same thing, as many tech apps do. Not all have been caught. Steve Jobs got caught on this one. Standard business practice, when you get caught, deny it.

ANY cell phone is tracked from tower to tower, and if you think that your provider doesn't keep tracking records..........

"Oh it just tracks which towers you encounter."
Say what you will about conspiracy theorists, on the matter of "chips" and tracking human whereabouts, this story should be of great concern.

"You don't have anything to fear if you don't break the law." Really? Why do they need to know my whereabouts then? More guilt before innocence.

How is the file process anonymous? Every phone on a network has a unique ID embedded into its chip. Whenever the file was set to be uploaded to Apple's network, they know that chip ID and you'd have to "trust" that they parse this data before analysis. No transmission could occur without this data.

Yes, they just think you are stupid now.

A PERSON HAS THE RIGHT TO BE ANONYMOUS! One has the right to not have their name show up in Google or other search engine queries. A person also has the right to control what and how any information shows up about them in any query. The same goes for other technologies and web services like US Search. And the same goes with being allowed to NOT be tracked by your cell phone/tablet/PDA. It's gotten too way easy and too dangerous. This needs to be changed. I WANT THE ABILITY TO OPT OUT OF GOOGLE / SEARCH ENGINE QUERIES and anything that tracks my whereabouts. It’s that simple. It’s time to start contacting our legislators and begin agitating for this.
