Dam humane society always sticking their noses in other folks business. Let the poor farmers alone, they know best how to keep their animals.

Sour grapes from a failed marriage? Looks like he knew she was going to get the farm so he left a parting "gift". Too bad the animals had to suffer.

isn't this an offense that will warrant hefty fines and possibly(likely) prison time ?

Why wouldn't you send them all to market and get whatever you could for them?

I know they are "just pigs" but seriously, to let them starve to death is just plain mean. If he was trying to set it up that his wife wouldn't be able to cash in on their worth, he could have sold them rather than just abandon them. Sounds like he's not very smart, nor does he care if he goes to jail. Loser.

Glesner said,"she recently visited the property, which has been on the market for about three weeks, and did not see any carcasses while she was there. She said she is not concerned about how hundreds of dead hogs might affect the property's salability. "I think this is very normal in a lot of farming operations, that you're going to have dead animals,"

Sorry, it's not normal to loose hundreds of aminals no matter how you cut it. A smart realtor would check out everything before they would sell it, a smart buyer would.

There's no question, Clarks life was falling apart, so it's a criminal investigation.

What a way to start the day reading this article. It just overwhelms me when I think of the inhumanity of some people. Whomever is responsible should go to prison...of course, that wouldn't do a thing to help the animals, it's too late for the animals.

These people should be punished. Prison sounds good. They also need a lesson in compassion.

I wonder if he actually owned the pigs? Don't some of these operations are hired by the corporate pig companies to raise the pigs?

This is a horrible thing! I hope that the guy gets a fitting punishment. If you can't take care of your animals..farm animals or pets, you shouldn't have them. I'm sure those pigs had a horrible life while they were alive too. Anyone that could abandon them probably barely kept them fed. I guess he really showed his wife right? what a jerk

people who do this to animals should be punished the same way. those animals were helpless and he didn't even give them a chance to survive.

Talk about cruelty to animals; this is unbelievable, and persecution must take place. I also can't believe that someone, probably several individuals, did not know what was occurring!

So am I the only one who thinks that the realtor should get her nose checked....I know that hog farms smell horrible just on principal, but really....1000 dead hogs and you CANT smell that and wonder if something is wrong??? and what about the neighbors, who knew that it was a hog farm, by all understanding a fairly successfull one at that; and not think anything of their neighbor just leaving??? I know that I would wonder what happened to the animals??? but thats just me

The guy indeed appears to be a loser, but the WEIRDEST thing in the whole article is the real estate agent saying she finds this "normal." I sure hope she was somehow misquoted!

yet another sad animal story. I say they should let him starve to death.
