Does anyone else get sick of trying to sort through all the comments to weed out the silly, non-germane banter between some of the posters and actually find comments pertaining to the letters?? Can't those of you who use this board to flirt back and forth set up your own little discussion group someplace else and let this board be used for the purpose for which it was created?
Yup, sorry, cant help ya. Really its the letter. and the answer given by advice columnist. The rest of the comments are for us to do as we please. And also, we are not the only guilty ones. Almost 99% of ANY, and I mean ANY subject that gets over 100 posts gets off topic.

If you cant beat em join em :)

I do recall there was a time, before I outed my own gender that you refered to me as "he" Does that mean you consider me logical enough to be a boy???
Man, I'm picking fights all over the place today!!!
Cefarian? Are you back to bicker with me over every little detail of anything I write? Stop posing as EEE!

Seriously, right!!!

I know I get tired of weeding through the "real" posts looking for messages from my imaginary friends.

Have a good weekend!

Thank God you're going to ballet tonight, that might chill you out -- ballet, wine, beautiful Chicago night. Ya, I'm jealous. It's not Duran, Duran -- but that sounds like a great night.

Polarity has a man's logic, not a woman's logic. After saying that -- I hope I'm right he's a he. He says things as if they are black and white with little wriggle room when he's describing/commenting, woman usually don't do that. A big generalization, I know, and not true in each case. BUT with Polarity, you ask a question and then the detail comes out with more gray areas that leaves room for the other posters view. Do I make sense?

We DO discuss the comments - look at the first page or 2. Then that is the sounding board for the rest of our discussions. That and Rational's irresistability...

Why don't you just exchange e-mail addresses and or set up your own discussion boards then? Otherwise, it's like someone carrying on a conversation on their cell phone in a public place; everyone else is forced to listen to the conversation, even though they could care less about what that person has to say. And before anyone tells me that I'm not "forced" to read the board, that's true - but it was set up to respond to comments about the letters, so those of us who would like to read those comments shouldn't have to stop reading. You and Rational have started hijacking every advice column board, EVERY day.

Thus far all you've done is complain about the posts not being on topic and yet, here you are, contributing to what you perceive as a problem.

I, for one, would like to read what you have to say about the actual letters. So post already. We always like new opinions. Thanks and have a great weekend.

I don't know if the letter writer #2 was male or female, and I didn't most of the previous comments as I didn't want to lose my train of thougt. If this person was brought up to think that masturbation(which I'm not sure is even the issue) or pornography is sinful and evil, then how we do we know whether or not this growing adolescent actually has an addiction? Maybe in the mind of this person,..once a week, or once a month is a one way ticket to hell. As opposed to 5 times a day, and neglecting homework because of the obsessing. I must say that I find it refreshing that a teen can actually talk to their parents about something so personal. The advice given by the counselor seemed right on to me, but again, I may be in the minority. I find nothing wrong with exploring your sexual identity, as long as you don't harm others, or yourself while doing so, and as long as it's within your beliefs. Naked pictures, are just that, pictures ...not very harmful of course, unless they affect those around you, and definitely if they're illegal. Anyway, just my two cents.:)

I find it odd that you think your needs and your posts should come before ours. Sorry, but your words here smack of being quite the egocentric. What? We take away from listening to you and what you want to talk about?

You know, actually, sorry for saying that. I guess my bone of contention is this: what makes you think the topix boards are only for the topic? You must admit, we discuss the topic at length, not only that you must also agree that most of these letters are so cut and dried and the advice, decision set which should be followed are so obvious that is pretty lame. Half the time we laugh because the letters are repeats. Same story different players. We discuss the issues, and give honest advice, usually the same we have given time and time again, over and over again, then we sort of digress...ok, we are guilty of that.

But when someone writes about how their husband beats them up but really he is a nice guy, etc...how many responses on it do you need to get your fill and say "ya know, that was some really sound advice, gee, I never saw it from that perspective before"?

So, by that logic, we can and will post whatever we want, and we welcome and encourage you to do the same. But dont disparage and ridicule us because we get bored easily of the same stuff over and over again, are social people and enjoy lightening are days by having conversations. There are far many others on these boards as guilty as I and EEE of getting off topic, and it eventually happens on every thread that has a substantial post count whether its Dear Abby or a discussion on politics.

have a good weekend

Wow. Are you sure you're just not jealous? Why single out EEE and Rational? What about Stina, Angelique, someone, Nova0311, kbaan, Garth, Polarity, Dienne, jennifer, j-kat, me and others? Sorry you don't enjoy the banter but I do -- so perhaps if it disturbs you so you can find another site.
That being said, you're welcome to your opinion. I just don't agree with it.
Oh, darn -- what was the topic?

Uh, yes Terri - I'm QUITE sure I'm not jealous. It wasn't until I read all of the defensive responses to my post that it occurred to me that the online community may well be the only social life you and some of the others have. That, coupled with your menial jobs (which you must have, if you can post on discussion boards all day long and your bosses doesn't even care), is really quite sad. I would feel horrible asking you to give up the one thing that brings you any satisfaction. Carry on, then.

Seriously, does it make you feel better to put others down?

Most of us comment on the actual article first and then, after the daily issue has been thorougly analyzed and discussed, conversation turns to other topics.

But at least we ATTEMPT to discuss the issue.

We're all still waiting for you to post an actual opinion about the COLUMN rather than about your fellow posters.

Hi, EEE! This irritates me! I read you guys before I ver jumped in and I enjoy it. We can banter and have fun.. discuss the topic and veer off from there. I don't have a low level "menial" job at all!!! We all handle our responsibilities. I feel a little defnsive, but damn, I run several monitors at work and ignore have to find a way to ignore the idiots at work. I don't have walls or a cubicle...everyone can see and hear me at all times, but I am d a m ned good at what I do, as I suspect u guys are. In a world where a lot of us can't take lunch breaks (like me) and work long hours, why not have an exchange of opinions and some entertainment. I imagine you agree? These people spnd more time b i t c h ing than we do joking around!

OK, everyone. "Oh please not again" wants to discuss the article and nothing else. OK, go ahead. We're all ears. Well?
