The hateful comments from the parents and taxpayers are based on misguided information. Bright people know that major district decisions are made by school board members, not by the super. The super precides over district personnel. Assistants report directly to him. The complaints most of you have are over budgets and what you consider the Taj Mahal. That's a CASD school board issue, not CASD top executive issue. Most of the comments condemn Dr. Joe because posters don't think he's a "good ol' boy." just because he wasn't nice enough to some, does not make him an ineffective leader.

Now that is just where you are wrong. I'm sick and tired of being refereed to as uneducated. I happen to have a Doctorate that I actually had to work for not just write show up. There how does that feel when you re called stupid. I am retired now and I chose this area because of it's location and low taxes. Well it seems that every time I turn around Taxes are being raised. It's time to get things under control. BTW-- Padasak is the head of the board and it ultimately is his responsibly for what ever actions the board takes. don't start trying to weasel out of this.

For someone claiming to know it all, Padasak is NOT head of the board.

Padasak has to go to the board for approval for his budget, changes in programs & most personnel issues, etc.

Padasak is NOT a school board member.

So, yet another retiree who moved to PA as a tax dodge?

Obviously you have not seen Dr Joe from behind....he has the whole board right in his back pocket. That is a big problem with our School Board. They are to be in charge but the chain of command is backwards....he is telling the board what they are going to do. Come to a board meeting once. It's the best circus that has ever come to town and you don't have to pay to get in....you pay when you leave!!!

Cave; move to N.Y. so you as a good lib will be able to pay high taxes.
Or do you prefer to send in "extra" (a good, caring lib would) to clear your conscience?
Take your extra (by extra I mean what is in your savings, you won't need it Penna. Ave. will take care of you) and send it to the Dept of Revenue and ask them to send back what they don't need.
Remember, you fully trust your gov't.
Or are you 'talkin' loud, sayin' nothin''.

As a liberal, I believe in paying my fair share. I realize that this is 180 degrees from your position.

It is the job of the superintendent to look & recommend a pathway.

It is the job of the board to decide whether it is the correct way to go.

I've spent time on a school board. I know.

I never claimed to know it all. I never claimed that Padasak was on the school board but he is the top executive. In that position his responsibility is to lead, guide and direct the board. If not then why do we need him at all or for that matter the position. I didn't say i moved here to dodge taxes. I said i decided to retire here because taxes were low. I chose not to move out of the area that i have lived in for many many years before I retired. It's amazing how many words you have put into my mouth that i just didn't say.

So when you said he was head of the board, you meant he was head of the body but not in the body?

You still have it wrong

The Superintendent works for the Board. Padasak can't spend money without the board approval.

Padasak's actions must be approved by the board. As long as he lives within these actions, the School Board is ultimately responsible.

And part of those "low taxes" was the idea that your retirement income most likely is not taxed by the state.

Sounds like a no brainer to me. Eric Michaels is deserving of this position, has earned the respect of the students, has been in the District for many years, etc. Promote from within and it you want to save the District some $$$$ get rid of Hodge.

Eric Michael was passed over for the position when Padasak was hired, I do not know the man, but I would think the board would remember that he was passed over previously and would likely do the same.

Maybe your right but that is only my opinion. I just hope it isn't Hodge, I don't think that would be a good thing. Again, only my opinion.

With all due respect, Dr. Rational Opinion, it's quite clear from your numerous posts that you are not uneducated. Any person of your stature is well aware that taxes should remain the same every year. I sincerely apologize for the implication that you just might be a kook. Also, thanks for informing me about CASD voting procedures. For many years (and a dozen different school districts) I thought every vote counted. Thanks again, Doctor.

For someone who is so educated, you have quite a number of spelling and grammar errors in your post. "Refereed", should be spelled referred, "re" should be are, "it's" should be its, and "responsibly" should be responsibility. You have several compound sentences where you neglected to use commas. You also have a few introductory clauses where you again neglected to use commas. Your second sentence does not make sense at all. I do not have my doctorate like you have bragged about, but I certainly know most spelling/grammar rules. If you want to look educated, you should at least proofread your post before submitting it.

What is your equation for "fair share"? If you say-'what the government says'- you should have no problem with "sending in" and waiting for them to "send back".
You have no problem with anything the gov't does with your money?
I happen to disagree w/many of the 'easy money' ploys, but I imagine you don't.
My "fair share" would not go to: trivial second amendment lawsuits, IRS, able body receiving S.S., abortions (on demand here, and any kind all over the world). BTW first law O-bum-r rescinded (was) to pay for abortions all over the world.
Congress's health care, pages, staff, lawyers.
Scooter chairs, welfare for longer than 6 mths., ACCESS card and WIC longer than 6 months,(for life, not; on-off, on-off).
Drug test FOR ANY kind of subsidized living.(all things in the statement included)
CHIPS, PACE, subsidized housing (section 8), all of them - out the door!
You get the idea (maybe not, you are liberal).
Here's an idea, make "the fair share" an option, and publish it on-line so we (non-fair share) people could see how much the "good liberals do care", and in turn could shame [us] into paying more.
I guarantee: I give more to my church (now) and they do more good with it (now) than you give to the government (you love) and they do "good with it".
If they (gov't [and you]) would get their [your]'$$$$ wasting liberal hands out of my pocket, I (and churches) could do even more!
Or, let me determine where my "fair share" is spent.
Why continue to fund a gov't that is totally irresponsible? All they want to do is 'buy votes, and subsidize their lifestyle' with our money.
I guess a 'good liberal' continues to give his kids and grandkids money even if they squander it? Wouldn't you want it accounted [for]?(no way, you have plenty, you love giving it away).
If you don't want accountability, your and idiot.
Last statement redundant, you are, after all, a 'liberal'.

Do the research.
Google Joe Padasak
Go to page 3
Scroll to: Chambersburg Area School District Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia.

See what a great job "Joe the Builder" has done for CASD. It's all documented. And you say?????
