If you say so.(shrug) Except uh, there is no passage in the Bible that says the Bible is God's word, is there?(As if that wasn't circular reasoning anyway) Actually, there is a passage saying just that exact thing. Don't judge what you don't know Duke, it lowers your credibility. As if you had any, on the bible anyways. Here it is. 2Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

That is the difference I was stating.

No, He did not personally take quill in hand, or whatever they wrote with in those days, and hand write the bible. You are correct there. But, re-read what the scripture SAYS..ALL scripture is GIVEN by inspiration of God,,,,,,,,, given? Given to WHO? Man just didn't dream it up Nettie, the scripture was GIVEN to them by the inspiration OF GOD, NOT MAN's inspiration, GOD'S INSPIRATION. It is God's inspiration to GIVE it to man. I believe if you will REALLY look at that scripture without the intent just to prove ME wrong, you would see that.

I do not literally believe the Bible word for word. I believe one can find truths of God in the Bible. You are so very entitled to your own belief, Wayne. So am I.

You call HIM a crazy fundamentalist?

Madame/Mr. Wayne, how about those of us who are Catholic and believe in the love of Jesus Christ. I hate to point this out, but you have on occasion said that Catholics aren't even Christians. So which is it, "fundamentalist christian" or non-Christian?

Being an artist I know a little something about inspiration. I have been INSPIRED many times in my artistic life. Often feeling that it was something OUTSIDE of my own artistic abilities and artistic vision that placed paint on canvas. Often, at the end I would look on the completed painting and not even remember doing much of it. But no matter how beautiful, not matter how technically good, no matter how accurate to the real world landscape in front of me, no matter how INSPIRED,... NO work of art can EVER be as awesomely magnificent as even the simplest of natural landscapes we all see in the REAL world. No one in their right mind would take a work of art, no matter how beautiful, no matter how technically gifted, no matter how accurate, no matter how INSPIRED, and say that it transcends the REAL world simply because it may have been INSPIRED by GOD. I wonder how many people would take one of Jan Brueghel the Elder's paintings of the Garden of Eden as a LITERAL depiction of what the Garden of Eden actually looked like. Were Brueghel's paintings INSPIRED by God? Of course they were, and by "fundamentalist christian logic" they are LITERALLY and INERRANTLY correct just as much as the Bible is.

Don't you think the fact that people have been arguing over it since before Constantine belies its divine creation? If I were the omniscient, omnipotent God of the bible, I would have written the bible to be crystal clear to anybody who read it.

Sherlock...the only words in the Bible that were directly written by the "hand" of God would be the Ten Commandments and they are very clear. The rest may be second hand. Not sure of that.

Not sure of that. Are they that clear though? They seem to differ quite a bit depending on who is talking about them. Here's a good breakdown of the whole thing: http://www.positiveatheism.org/crt/whichcom.h...

Since the Catholics and Protestants wern't around at the time and the 2nd version looks a bit shaky to me...I choose number one/ the original version. Sounds more like God to me and besides..its the version in the movie. Why make it harder than it is?

The oldest edition still in existence dates from the 3rd or 4th century, hundreds of years after the events described. And even those show signs of editing and having passages added. The English versions available are even more suspect. They have gone through several translations, each with its own political and religious agenda.

You make no sense whatsoever. The WORD of God is much more than a painting on canvas. I am a songwriter with a couple of songs published and recorded by professional artists. Are they the Word of God? Can they save your soul? Absolutely not but I give God the credit for them because when I write songs it seems as if they fall from the sky. So, your analogy fails.

I understand it, no problem. When you place Jesus Christ at Genesis and follow Him through Revelation there is no problem. I DO NOT claim to know everything about the bible but God has blessed me with some understanding of His Word. I pray for understanding of His Word daily. Maybe you should try it.
