Isn'thtis a little like predicting the cows will run away once they are out of the barn? The phrase climate change is already in wide use ... and for me, your use of this tactic in validates the rest of your clearly politically charged argument.

3 Very pathetic,(Web site) People like this should be ashamed of themselves, they can not discredit a candidate legitimately so use trashy web sites full of lies, hate, prejudice & trying to induce fear. This trick (inferring to Barack as Muslim for the purpose of spreading fear) was already tried by Fox News network (fixed news network) & they had to give it up because there was no creditable evidence. Two Senators, McCain being one had to apologize for their or their cohorts comments inferring to Barack as a Muslim. This has been thoroughly investigated by credible major news networks & their conclusion was Barack was raised a Christian, he is not a Muslim & he never attended a madrassah as this is inferring. Of course we are used to these kind of tricks over the last 7 years which is crippling our country militarily & economically. |

You probably read that on Fox News website which took it from an editorial in The Australian by Phil Chapman. Wow, is that a doozy of a read. First of all, Chapman even says: "It is generally not possible to draw conclusions about climatic trends from events in a single year, so I would normally dismiss this cold snap as transient, pending what happens in the next few years." But then he goes ahead and does it anyways by saying this garbage, "On the other hand, it must be noted that the cooling in 2007 was even faster than in typical glacial transitions. If it continued for 20 years, the temperature would be 14C cooler in 2027." Second, he does not mention that we are going through a La Nina phenomena which cools the earth - it is the oppsite of El Nino. Third, I went and looked at all of the data sets he used and I am not sure where he got 0.7 degrees C. None of the data shows a 0.7 degree drop (worst was 0.6). Fourth, The Christy Group at the U of Alabama (Christy is anti-global warming) has revised some of its numbers and guess what, there has warming between January and March. Only January was below the 20 year average temperature.(Jan:-.05, Feb:+0.03, Mar:+0.09 - all are degree C). Now to use Chapman's poor extrapolation techniques, the earth is going warm .84 degrees this year. But I do agree with you that polluting is a major problem worldwide, especially India and China. But just because they are doing it doesn't mean we shouldn't try to reduce our pollution. |

1 Well, I mentioned Fox carried it because it was the only major US news source that did. Fox's editorials tend to be against GW, but their website tends to be more fair and balanced as you can tell by this: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,325688,00... There are many ways to solve problems. Some would be considered liberal, some would be considered conservative. Many times, the direction we decide to use comes down more to the competence of a particualr person putting a plan into action. Usually there are offsetting arguments to every issue. It makes no sense to only listen to one side of any issue. I don't know how anyone can even consider themselves progressive if they don't. |
