A dedicated leader, Craig was definitely a moving force behind AYF. Many great childhood memories from the 1970s. Your legacy will be remembered for years to come. Our condolences to the entire Burris family.

Craig was the glue that held together the Pacific Coast Conference, which stretches from LA to Bakersfield. Many children had opportunities to cheerlead and play football because of his efforts. With Craig's death, coach Williamson's son Cody's recent death, and coach Mike Durden's death last November, Redondo youth football has had some tough losses. All will be missed...

Wow. I read the story and the comments and thought these people didn’t really know him at all. Then I saw your comment and thought now this is more what he was really like. I’m sorry for the loss to you and your family. I know it happened long before Friday.

I have known Craig Burris since I was 16 years old - 20 years now. I have been very close to the family and worked for the his insurance business 2 years, and the Pacific Coast Conference for 8 year, and counting. Like Craig always said "you can't please everyone".
Most people know the phone works TWO ways, how much effort have you put into getting in touch with the family in the past years???

HEY TIFFANY, YOU KNEW HIM SINCE AGE 16. I'M HIS OLDEST SON, DID YOU KNOW HE NEVER PAID CHILD SUPPORT? DID YOU KNOW THAT HE BEAT MY MOTHER WHILE SHE WAS PREGNANT AND SHE LOST THE CHILD? DO YOU KNOW HE WAS A WOMANIESER,
THAT CATHY WAS HIS 3RD WIFE AND THAT I CAN GIVE YOU THE NAMES OF WOMEN THAT HE SLEPT WITH WHILE HE WAS MARRIED TO ALL 3 WIVES? DO YOU REALIZE THAT HE DEVOTED HIS LIFE TO OTHER CHILDREN FOR PERSONAL GAIN AND HE NEVER DEVOTED ANY THING TO HIS REAL CHILDREN?
DID YOU KNOW HE HAD 8 ADDITIONAL GRANDCHILDREN AND A GREAT GRANDCHILD? I CAN GO ON ! YES THE PHONE GOES BOTH WAYS! WHY WOULD I WAN'T TO KEEP IN TOUCH WITH A MAN LIKE THE ONE I KNEW? I'M NOT SAD OVER HIS DEATH, I'M SAD AT ALL THE GOOD THINGS THAT WERE SAID ABOUT A MAN YOU ALL REALLY NEVER KNEW THE TRUTHE ABOUT.

If all this is true. Why in the heck would you want to put this information out here like that on the internet. I just happen to be surfing the web looking for details about craigs death, and I was very disturbed to read this mess.
The craig i know was a great cool man, and is loved by 100's of people from all over.
If this is true, im sorry to hear that, but there is two sides to every story, and it's sad we wont be able to hear his side. If you have no respect for him, keep that to yourself, and grow up. RIP Craig

I have known Craig for more than 20 years. I also know, for that time he was a man of character and spent that part of his life making a better world for the kids of this and other communities.

There was a time when he did hire a Burris child and tried to assist him in growing up. That son was unable to meet the obligations of a trusted employee not withstanding a son. I am not saying Craig was perfect he was not, none of us are. I say when looking at the balance of good to bad, the scale comes down heavily on the good side. I do question the motivations of people who could have fixed a relationship while someone was alive and choose instead to trash him after his death. Before you respond, understand, I have grown in a family life very similar, I have known three dads and so on, but life is what you make of it. You can choose to look at life as a victim and only see how you were cheated or you can live life on your terms. I dare say, I think I know how you have chosen.

The man was not of great character, He ruined kids hopes with his acts and corruptness. He was always jealous of the talent we had and he had the power to suspend and pretty much do what he wanted. I will never have respect for this man and I am glad the truth comes out. Your kids are better off for not knowing him. I remember his wife Thunder Thighs fixing competitions. SAD. Rest in Pieces
Dear Falcon:
your comments speak for them self.. Do you speak for your City? Guess what... one of the past leaders of your league was at Craigs bedside during his illness. I guess he thought different than you do. I would say your opinion is most likely based on your hand getting slapped for breaking a rule you thought you could get around.

Craig Burris was a coaches coach a teacher of men and boys and a leader of leaders. He was able to reach people and motivate the inactive and excite the unexcitable. He had an uncanny ability to help you realize your weaknesses and make corrections. I am sure this knowledge came at a price. I am sure he made many choices he wished he had not. All I can say is many people, NOT ALL, but most of the people that knew the man of the last two decades will miss his love and influence.

Good by Craig,
Get the angles league ready for us.

I knew Craig for only a short time, I will not try and convince anyone of what a good man he was, he apparantly did a well enough job proving he was a good man that he had hundreds of people at his funeral wishing him a fond farewell. I know that I sat at a table with people from Lakewood, Tri-Cities, Montebello, Redondo Beach, Santa Monica and Palos Verdes and I now call these people my friends because Craig brought us together through his vision and dedication.

Thank you Craig, here is to hoping the positive outshines the negative...

Craig Jr,
Your timing is totally inappropriate and cowardly. I can’t help but wonder why you would choose to attack your deceased father in this manner? A COMMENT IN AN OPINION FORUM! It’s called faceless slander of a man who has passed! I must say I am shocked and saddened that hate could drive a man to do such a thing. Even If what you say is true, saying it won’t make you feel better about your life and what happened in it. Forgiveness will help you.
I played for 7 years and have been coaching for 10 in a league governed by the PCC "Pacific Coast Conference", which your father operated (I am sure you know this).
In your comment you say "HE DEVOTED HIS LIFE TO OTHER CHILDREN FOR PERSONAL GAIN". I have to disagree, no matter what he said or did to you, children have and will benefit from what he has done. If he did it all for personal gain, then he was the most talented and dedicated actor I have ever known, and was in the wrong profession. If your statement about his personal gain is true, that means every meeting, event, game, playoff game, award given, ect. was all done for a mastermind ploy to move himself forward in society. I’m sorry but I can’t give Craig SR. that much credit (Giggle). He was a good man with flaws, there are many of them out there. I have flaws I try to learn from and fix. I am sure you do too.
Now for this comment “WHY WOULD I WAN'T TO KEEP IN TOUCH WITH A MAN LIKE THE ONE I KNEW”? You even say it yourself. That was the man you knew not that I knew or everybody knew. People have the ability to change over time. Sometimes not very fast or not in the most important area of their life, but they can change and do good after having a bad past. I can say I never saw any of the negative qualities’ you mention about him in the time I knew him. I don’t believe what you say is true as you tell it either!!!
The last statement I will comment on.“I'M NOT SAD OVER HIS DEATH; I’M SAD AT ALL THE GOOD THINGS THAT WERE SAID ABOUT A MAN YOU ALL REALLY NEVER KNEW THE TRUTHE ABOUT”. WOW THAT’S HATE IN WORDS. Are you telling us that if you do something bad in life, give up! because no matter what you do from that point on, it can never be good for people or society?( THEN YOUR DAD PROVED YOU WRONG EVEN IF WHAT YOU SAY IS TRUE) Craig SR. built a giant youth organization which affects thousands of life’s old and young, for the better. What your father did for people is good, and it does affect thousand of lives every day. It teaches life lessons to all involved. THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO TAKE THAT AWAY FROM HIM. You wrote what you did, to take away from his legacy. I am telling you his legacy can’t be taken from him. What he created is alive with people and will continue to do good for mankind long after you and I are gone.(YOUR ATTEMPT IS FUTILE) If I where you I would try to let go of hate. Hate is not good for anyone. It will wear you down and consume you if you continue to use it or let it use you. So for your own good, stop! REMEMBER PEOPLE, HATE IS A PATH TO THE DARK SIDE.
ATTN: FALCON PERSON. TO HELL? You really wish a person to hell for expressing their opinion? Did he wish you to hell? NOPE. So why would you say such a thing? Even if you didn’t try to break a rule and what he said was false, you don’t wish the worst on someone for that. I don’t wish you to hell. The Comment about his wife had no class and was very immature. I hope you do great things for people one day. But I don’t see that happening with the kind of attitude you have shown. I wish you the best, don’t let EVIL beat you!:)
