Very sad situation, but this shows that not wearing the proper safety gear while ridding a motorcycle is a MUST, I am a rider as well and I cant understand why the mandatory healmet law is not in effect, the only thing is mandatory is eye protection. USE A HEALMET!!!! IT CAN SAVE UR LIFE.

A person has to be insane to get on a motorcycle without a helmet. Let's see, I have to wear a seatbelt in a car but I can legally ride a motorcycle without a helmet. I am all for 'rights' but feel real bad about the tragic loss of life of such a young person.

Everytime I see a motorcyclist driving w/o a helmet, I believe they think they're immortal. It should be the law. I guess Fla. is culling their over-population by not making it mandatory. Still, safety and common sense doesn't need legislation.

First you say that NOT wearing the proper safety gear is a MUST, then you turn around and say - Use a helmet, it can save your life. Which is it? Make up your mind.

Helmet laws are needed. Kids under sixteen have to wear helmets by law for just about anything. Some riders say they like to feel the wind in their hair. Good, go ride a horse. Those who do not wear helmets are morons. It is sad this young man lost his life. Perhaps he would still be alive. Let us make a law that makes hemlemt wearing mandatory!

I ride, mostly with a helmet, but I enjoy HAVING the choice to ride without a helmet. As this article mentioned, he went around a right-turning vehicle, not looking far enough forward to see the van. THIS is reckless riding. This is immature operation of a vehicle. This is what kills on the road, not the motorcycle. I have been riding since 1969 and have learned how to watch other drivers. The "crotch-rockets" that zip by me are ridden by this type of fool. I laid my bike down once, and IT WAS MY OWN FAULT!(stupidity-actually).

That guy was cool to the end!If he had survived we would be paying for his bills because the cheap insurance these riders have do not cover such injurys.Sad but like Tony would say "what are ya gonna do",I'll tell ya bring back helmet laws!!!

So i guess your saying only those that ride crotch-rockets are fools??? I have seen plenty of Hardly Riders that are pretty stupid and do some pretty stupid stuff.... But your comments are typical, this is why i cant stand you people on your hardley's. You think your better and smarter yet you all get trashed at bars and ride drunk, thats real smart.... WEAR A HELMET POEPLE, IT MIGHT SAVE YOUR LIFE!!!

I am only thinking of his mother.
Madam, my prayers are with you!

I am so sorry to hear stories like this one. I can't stop thinking about my own son who is only 6, but one day will love to cruise around in a motorcycle.
