Quake Hits Papua New Guinea, No Damage or Tsunami
A strong magnitude-6.7 earthquake has struck Papua New Guinea but there are no immediate reports of damage and no regional tsunami alert.

NEIC reports quake at W. end of New Britain arc in the outer forearc where irt collides with the E. part of the papua/hagen arc, in the part where the collision between the 2 arcs is pushing up the outer & central forearc creating the Sepik range & its classical uplifted coral reef terraces.
Quake is a transform fault along a segment boundary, NNE-SS via moment tensor report, likely no tsunami, a classical quake for that part of the world.
