LApocalypse: Hypothetical Alaska Tsunami Will Hypothetically Wipe Out SoCal
With everyone so worried about theoretical earthquakes in Hollywood , which may or may not split proposed buildings in two, there's been little time to ponder how else we might all perish in a natural disaster.

This bit ported over from the prior article dealing with Marin county. Seemed a good idea to copy & spam it as it seems equally relevant here.
Last event there was in the 1780s. 2 quakes and either 1 or 2 large tsunami, difficult to separate as a result of reportage garble. There were no reports of tsunami damage in California @ that time despite tsunami heights of 85m on Sanak island and numerous washouts of Aleut villages. The reportage from California in the 1780s is somewhat patchy @ best.
The runup in California also varies strongly according to the runout vector of the relaxing crust. The strongest tsunami in california would be from an SW runout, or possibly a SSW runout. The tsunami height would diminish significantly is the runout was purely backarc (as in the Scotch cap event) with a vector S. which would direct the main tsunami pulse between california @ Hawaii.
Have a nice day: Ag
