Should our Government make the truth available to the Taxpayer?

In light of the events unfolding around the world, DA 14, mega Quake swarms, Nuclear disasters..and such.Should we allow the USA's USGS and NASA, DOH, DOD and other Tax payer sponsored or supported programs to hide the truth of potential hazards or ELE events from us? Or allow access and leave it up to people to accept or deny the information on their own accord? I for one want access and think the government should stop telling us what is good for us..The assumption that we are all going to panic and chaos will result is over played. look to days following disasters like 911 we all came together, crime in NY came to a stand still; I would like to think we can take the truth and make the same decisions as on that day. your thoughts?
