Yeah, saying about these prescription painkillers overdoses killing more ppl than heroin & cocaine is sheer propaganda. Modern medicine is often a case of kill or cure anyway....it's extremely rare to find any prescription drug without a warning leaflet of potentially lethal side effects....why should overdoses be targeted. There was an excellent painkiller in the UK until a few years back...very effective, minimal side-effects (as in no noticeable bad ones)'Proproximal'(not to be confused with coproximal or cocodamol)....it was taken off the prescribing list bcuz of some deaths...it was ppl taking paracetemol products with it mostly......so now those who weren't abusing it have the option of taking less effective drugs with more side effects & those who were using it as a recreation take something else anyway......ppl are going to do what they're going to do....the difference is if the 'nannying' gets into the public opinion it becomes 'unacceptable' but it doesn't stop anyone using or abusing any drug & it doesn't stop overdoses, merely shifts them to overdoses of a different kind. You can't stop all drugs.....medicines are drugs...& right from ancient man ppl have been discovering plant leaves etc. that have desirable effects & utilising their properties
