There has been an increasing percentage of women (and men) committing suicide in the last five years (40 to 50%).
Women usually overdose as opposed to using guns or hanging. Oxy can cause respiratory paralysis, anoxia stops the heart...death ensues.
The old medications weren't as potent. Also the incidence of people with chronic pain is a large part of the population now. Women are told they have "fibromyalgia" or "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome" ...sort of umbrella terms that don't offer much in the way of causation or treatment.
My husband died last year...I have had severe chronic pain for 45 years. As soon as my service dog leaves this earth...I will be close behind. No family...no job...not worth living as doctors are TERRIFIED about prescribing opiates. And this report will just make it that much harder to get appropriate narcotics. I am not the only woman who feels this way. The medical community is WAY behind in treating pain.
