Well Congress, is supposed to provide for Defense, they are not required to protect those who choose to build in unsuitable locations.

What will be left to defend? People smart enough to not live amongst dry scrub brush.......

Yea let the whole nation burn down wooohooo GOP dream world.....

How about we cut all the money we give to other nations and end all teh wars and close 3/4 of military bases in other nations...that alone would save us close to 1 trillion a year.

Now end the following departments........DEA ATF TSA FCC and end war on drugs and we could save another 500 billion or more.....

I just saved 1.5 trillion and not oen single American got hurt or lost anything..........

Typically bad choices by Congress; continue vast amounts of military funding, including funding for illegal foreign wars, but cut funding for critical functions like firefighting. We are governed by idiots, not that this is news.

Nonsensical, since forests, grasslands, or scrub go through wet and dry cycles and don't constantly catch fire.

"Defense" against natural disasters is far,FAR more important than fighting endless wars of aggression. When was the last time we "defended" our nation against someone? Other than bin Laden, at least. WWII? Perhaps Korea? Certainly not in Vietnam, the Gulf, Bosnia, or Iraq. Or the current morass in Afghanistan.

We need to make better choices. So do you.

Just what conservatives have been agitating for since Reagan. Cut and gut government budgets down to the size where government can be "drowned in a bath tub." GOP Pope Norquist.
Federal, states, counties, cities and towns all reduced to beggary. No infrastructure rebuilt. Schools left to rot. Police and fire departments
cut in half. Social services closed down. Etc., etc., etc.
The perfect new world-order of conservatism.

That's why the same areas of the west burn evry year?

Yes, Congress is required to provide for our defense, not protect those who choose poorly on where to live.....

Do they? Can you prove it? Forest fires don't occur in other areas where people live?

Why do you blame the victims and insist on continuing government welfare for the military industrial complex? Do you work for the latter?

Like somewhere in the Midwest where they have tornadoes?
Or along the southern coast where they have hurricanes?
Or in the southwest where they have drought and wildfires?
Or in the Mississippi Valley where they have floods?
Or, or, or.....

You're a friggin' genius.

People didn't build in many of these areas until the federal govt started covering their losses.

You must be one of those who chose poorly on where to live......

I live near the coast and have seen too many beachfront villas rebuilt with fed funds after a storm......

People used to be smart enough to not build in flood plains, wildfire prone areas, beach fronts, etc, when it was on them to rebuild......

Why do conservatives always blame the victim?
A girl gets raped and it's her fault.
A wife gets beaten up by her husband and it's because of something
she did to make him mad.

Conservatives are Muslims in their hearts. They practice a kind of
Christian Sharia. Blame the victim. Especially women.

They're filth.(to quote the Laughing Loony)
