As if they needed any more evidence of just how bad an idea it has to be, your continued agreement with it should scare the heck out of them.

atheist finger pointers favorite Scripture quote. You're supposed to read a book with intelligence and understanding, not just paragraph to paragraph. The Bibles books all interconnect and cross reference one another. For example we all know Leviticus Scripture about man laying with man, well Jesus also said he came to fulfill the law not destroy it. Which means any issue christ himself did not out right change...such as eye for an eye and turn the other cheek " it is good to our God and remains unchanged.

Actually buttercup, I'm probably the strictest literalist you're ever going to run into, I'm all about true meaning and context when discussing the Bible. Wanna try me? You'd be amazed the things I've learned from your Bible. Fer instance, all sex is sin sweetie, it doesn't matter the gender. We're all just fornicating. You getting hung up on the imagined sins of others, not what the Jesus fellow had in mind for you.

I'm not an atheist dear, I believe in all the Gods and versions of Gods other folk bring with them, I have no proof that they don't exist and you say they are there, so they are there. As to your choice of beliefs that other than the statutes and commandments that Jesus himself said were no longer applicable, the rest of the 600 odd still apply, on that you might want to read Leviticus and Deuteronomy where these laws appear, some of the ones Jesus doesn't address are illegal in a lot of places in modern times. If you want to pray that God disapproves of homosexuality and that the Bible actually supports you in this, you go right ahead, that's between you and Him. Inflicting that prayer on young boys in the Boy Scouts, sounds downright rude.

It's a shame Southeast Christian Church discriminates against gay people. I know of a person who was told to leave the church for standing up for gays. All of us are God's children.... and it's a shame that this is 2013 and some people still choose to stick to 19th century thinking.

Most everyone interprets the bible to fit what they already believe, and/or what they were taught. I agree that the Bible takes a stand against homosexuality, but where we differ is that I think the Bible is simply wrong in doing so, and a product of the decidedly unenlightened and barbaric time period in which it was written. If you want to needlessly cling to all the "values" of that age, I don't want to know you.

Jesus spoke against the act of homosexuality, get over it. Gays should be welcomed but the act should never be condoned, promoted or led to believe its wholesome. You proud homosexuals are always twisting Scripture, never reading in its entirety, and blatantly ignoring unpopular verses. "Noone is as blind as the man that refuses to see "
Jesus never mentioned gays.

Also, I thought it was the Christians who were always running from unpopular verses. I don't see them preaching for slavery, or for women who are raped to marry their rapists, or to not eat shellfish.

Do you eat shellfish, wear clothes of 2 different fibers, have a tattoo, round haircut, or work on saturdays. If so, you went against the bible.

So you believe that young children who are gay are "adulterers"? How does that work?

This is about scouts, not Rick or any other adult.

And are you saying that the scouts ban all men and women who have ever had sex outside of wedlock from being leaders? How about people who have divorced and re-married?

All "sinners". The pool of available leaders just shrank to nothing.

And anyone who thinks that foul language is as EVIL as an act that willfully and senselessly takes a human life has no grip on reality.

You might want to re-evaluate your belief systems.
