The technology to put out these monstrous fires already exists, but "our government" refused to use it in 2003, because it was made in Russia. The Russians designed the Ilyusian IL76 Water-Bomber plane with the capacity to carry 16,000 gallons of water, able to put out a fire the size of 10 football fields lined up end to end, in fifteen seconds.

So our government doesn't want to come up with a aircraft like the Russians'? wait how did we end up with the Ilyusian IL76 Water-Bomber plane? this plane sounds fantastic even if it was produced by Russians, if we have one and don't use it....it's a real shame.

We should produce our own, the loss of life and property due to this fire could have paid for something like Ilyusian IL76 Water-Bomber plane, or something better.

Instead we drop chemicals, that does who knows what to the people on the ground.

and nature..... animals, this is why great numbers of birds fall from the sky and we wonder, what in the world is going on? good point. But "o" wouldn't want to shell out the money due to his vacations and golf which ARE A PRIORTY and to hell with our people and nation.

It looks like this year will be a bad one for forest fires. When I lived in western Montana sometimes the smoke would be so bad I couldn't see across the street and the fire was over 150 miles away! Most of the firefighting equipment is obsolete thanks to budget cuts. One year smoking was banned on Forest Service land.

my God! with all this smoke, I imagine respiratory problems was at it's worse....like asthma, emphysema, bronchitis, allergies, etc. A lot of these ailments could be diminished if measures were taken by the government to use THE BEST, MOST ADVANCED EQUIPMENT like these Russian water air craft to fight the fires and put them in less time than it takes putting them out with chemicals that ONLY AGGRAVATE OUR HEALTH AND HURT THE ENVIRONMENT AND NATURE (ANIMALS) MORE THAN HELP.
