When I lived in Georgia, we had 2 straight weeks of legitimate 100+ degree temperatures.

Yes, it's mostly a dry heat here. Yesterday is said we were supposed to have thunderstorms but we never had them. It was really humid and 120.

the first graduated thermometer with a temperature scale wasn't developed until 1724 by Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit (go figure, huh?).
That's referred to as the modern thermometer, there were a few before that, as far back as 1593:

So before 1724, the recorded temperature was just, "way too hot or way too cold," right? I mean prior to 1724, nobody had a clue as to what a degree was - so I'm thinking records prior to that weren't very accurate if applicable at all?

I melted a perfectly good set of Chuck Taylors to the sidewalk in Phoenix in '78.

About 30 miles away from me, every year on the 4th of July they hold a contest of frying eggs on the sidewalk.

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Taurus

The sad fact is that a certain person isn't making much sense right now. They seem to be talking nonsense, or maybe they've got the wrong end of the stick but are hanging on to it for grim death and refuse to let you correct them. Mind you, there's also the possibility that you're the one who has got themselves in a muddle but doesn't realize it. Scary!
