Nice article.

According to Bush regime law, Cleveland volcano has been clarified as an "enemy combatant" rather than an enemy of the state,(a result of it killing a US soldier during wartime).

Interesting to see that they actually do have a remote seismic sensor array for the volcano after all,(by proxy apparently).

May be a good idea to play on its Japanese affiliations and run a joint US/Japanese monitoring programme.

Main reason for this appears to be that as a result of the Rebound/Long duration mercalli X (r/lx) quake, crustal relaxation earthquake of the ~1780s & bloody great big tsunami @ Sanak that resulted; the volcano is now being fed by a long magma filled fracture that is being squeezed into the volcano gradually and will result in semi continuous constructional activity for a long time interval.
This type of activity is very similar to that occurring @ mayon, Shishaldin, Pavlof (Both fed by a similar fracture formed @ the same time), and Redoubt (fed by a fracture formed in an r/lx quake in 1964).

Should be of interest to the Japanese as a result of the r/lx quake & bloody great big tsunami of march 2011 in Tohoku with the bulk of the magma likely to be squeezed into the Iwate area; (Mayon being the best analogue for that one).

Have a nice day: Ag
