No more pause: Warming will be non-stop from now on

Aug 31, 2014 Full story: New Scientist 38

Enjoy the pause in global warming while it lasts, because it's probably the last one we will get this century.

A quote from 2009.
Five years ago.
Trenberth has accounted for the lack of warming since then.
Science moves on.
Denial doesn't.
In a 2013 scientific paper in Geophysical Research Letters, Trenberth and co-authors presented an observation-based reanalysis of global ocean temperatures. This proposed that a recent hiatus in upper-ocean-warming after 2004 had seen the long term increase interrupted by sharp cooling events due to volcanic eruptions and El Niño. Despite this, ocean warming had continued below 700m. depth.[5]
In a second 2013 paper, Trenberth and Fasullo discussed the effect of the 1999 change from a positive to negative phase of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation. This was associated with a change of surface winds over the Pacific which had caused ocean heat to penetrate below 700m. depth and had contributed to the apparent global warming hiatus in surface temperatures during the last decade.[6]

"thinker unthunk" don't thunk much. AGW has forced lots of warm fronts into the winter NP pole region, which then, forces cold Arctic fronts south, onto Canada & the U.S.
Ok, that makes sense. What you are saying is AGW:
makes extremely cold places not quite so cold (and I quote; "...AGW has forced lots of warm fronts into the winter NP pole")

and:

Warmer places not quite as hot (and I quote; "...then, forces cold Arctic fronts south, onto Canada & the U.S.")

Got it.

So AGW appears to moderate extreme temperatures by making cool places warmer and warm places cooler (...just as the experts had predicted, I presume)

You and 'SpaceBlues' are proof that, in your minds, the science is settled and thinking is not necessary when accepting The Truth of AGW.

Geez Fair Game, how many times have you said Earth is warming and there is NO hiatus? Maybe 5, 6 times or more? Is that you or litesong that repeatedly denies the hiatus? Anyway,
Expert Kevin Trenberth has been denying such silly claims of warming for the last 6 years!

He knows there has been no warming for the past 16 years...
Trenberth: "The 1997 to ’98 El Niño event was a trigger for the changes in the Pacific, and I think that’s very probably the beginning of the hiatus”.(His quote is from your citation)

No warming-
Warming has stopped- end of story. The expert has spoken!

Now, if you think Trenberth is wrong why do you choose to believe his latest claim where he wants everyone to believe the 'heat' is hiding in the oceans.
That 'heat' is such a scamp :-)

As usual, a total lack of understanding.

The oceans are part of the globe. Heat going into the oceans doesn't mean warming has stopped.
The hiatus in the rise in global temperatures could last for another 10 years, according to new research.

Scientists have struggled to explain the so-called pause that began in 1999, despite ever increasing levels of CO2 in the atmosphere.

The latest theory says that a naturally occurring 30-year cycle in the Atlantic Ocean is behind the slowdown.

The researchers says this slow-moving current could continue to divert heat into the deep seas for another decade.

However, they caution that global temperatures are likely to increase rapidly when the cycle flips to a warmer phase.

Global warming has been a continuous process for thousands of years the scientists have managed to convince people its our use of fossil fuels causing it without providing a realistic solution no matter what we do humans will wipe ourselves out and the planet will live on as it has done for billions of years

it recently reported deep ocean waters have cooled 0.1c over the past 20 years. the antartic sea ice has grown more than 1 million square km over the last 7 years which is affecting the thermohaline circulation pushing less cold water around especially into the atlantic ocean.

One of the few correct spellings using the term, "antartic" is Ralph Vaughn Williams' seventh symphony, "Sinfonia antartica".

It was AGW scientists that predicted in 2002 & re-confirmed in 2005, that Antarctic sea ice would increase. Almost correct, Wunsch et al claim a deep ocean cooling of 100th of a degree over the last 19 years, but admit that it could be noise.
That said, if it's possible that cooling may have taken place, no deep ocean heating can have taken place, except possibly in areas with volcanoes, like those under the warming parts of West Antarctica.
1. Around 90% of all the energy in the Earth’s climate system is in the oceans.
2. Thou shalt not create nor destroy energy.
3. If there was an energy imbalance running day after day, gazillions of Joules of energy must be somewhere. They cannot “pause”, take holidays, nor appear in future without being present in the now.

Wunsch was looking at the abyssal ocean (below 2000m).

The extra heat is in the deep ocean (up to 1500m).

Damn, that elusive ocean heat can hide itself only where the SS team can find it.

It's probably guarded by Santa Claus' team of elves.
