Any chance that the endowment will also encourage diversity among award recipients?

Not a chance, because this has nothing to do with the most qualified of ALL high school graduates getting the scholarship.

This young lady is a very intelligent young woman, and diversity has nothing to do with her getting anything in life. She is a scholar!!! Stop ruining what is a good thing with stupidy and your sly remarks. Thank you

With hard work and determination all things are possible. I am sure this outstanding person deserved this scholarship.

We are not commenting on her deserving of the scholarship, we are commenting on the "supposed diversity" that is implied by the NAACP and Dr. Turner. There is none. I'm sure this young scholar deserves this award, but Dr. Turner and the NAACP cheapen it.
