Dade County Executive Chairman Ted Rumley has vowed time and time again he will not allow the beleaguered Dade County Library to close altogether, but one alternative he has mentioned also repeatedly is withdrawing it from the Cherokee Regional Library and going it alone.

I'd be more willing to give a one cent tax to the library than to repair the sports complex at DCHS. Maybe the voters could decide that issue. Or is that too sensible?
