John Ramsey's nephews?

As we generally have thought we knew, John Ramsey has but one brother, Jeff. Jeff and his wife Peggy do not have any children, as far as has ever been said. But when I ran across an obituary for John's father James Dudley Ramsey (who died in 1992 three months after Beth Ramsey), it says this:

"He is survived by his wife, Irene Brownell of Sun City Center; two sons, John Bennett of Boulder, Colo., and Jeffrey Scott of Atlanta; two brothers, Henry B. II of Philadelphia and William of Seattle; and 11 grandchildren."

11 grandchildren? At that time, there were four: JonBenet, Burke, John Andrew and Melinda. I know that obituaries are sources of the occasional misspelling or slightly misworded relationship description, but never have I seen a death notice contain an incorrect yet precise listing of how many grandchildren the deceased had. So, the question of the day is: are there in fact as many as SEVEN children Out There who are directly related to JonBenet via her grandfather? Needless to say, this issue should be cleared up one way or another given the potential ramifications involving DNA evidence.

I think there's a lot about John Ramsey and his family and past that remain unkonwn.

Isn't the marriage to Irene a second marriage? Is Irene the mother of Lucinda Ramsey? Weren't they married at one time. Perhaps they are counting any other grandchildren of Irene, children from siblings of Lucinda?

I think the step family situation is also of interest via Polly and her step daughter Jenny. They did DNA test Polly's husband but if Jenny's mom was remarrried, there is another avenue of who may have been in contact with and provided the size 12 undies.

I don't belive the underwear was for Jenny. I think it was from her.

Perhaps Irene had been married previously and had other children and John Dudley Ramsey claimed those grandchildren as his own?

If he claimed them as his grandchildren, wonder why did he not claim Irene's children as step children? Irene was Lucinda's mother right? Confusing, she was an ex daughter in law, then a step daughter,John B Ramsey's ex wife, then his step sister. She would have been Burke and JB's aunt.Oh me, just think what JAR,Beth and Melinda would have been to John. Confusing to say the least.

It sounds like a song I heard once years ago. The name of the song is 'I'm my own grampa'

Make Patsy, Burke, and JonBenet such a sub-group within the family they were indeed a small foreign faction.

Obviously, James's grandchildren should have been born to his children. The only way a person can get the label of "grandchildren" out of anyone born from Irene is by, in fact, labeling the people she gave birth to as James's children, which clearly the obituary writer did not do. John is James's child. Jeff is James's child. Lucinda, however, is not listed as James's child. And Lucinda's sisters (she appears from my research at the moment to have two of them) are DEFINITELY not considered James Ramsey's children, so since the children of these sisters have, in no way, any relationship to James, any children they might have would not count as GRANDchildren of people who are not being counted as children.

Or, to put it more succintly, only the children of James Ramsey have had James Ramsey's grandchildren, and Irene did not give birth to any people who can be considered as James Ramsey's children. The obituary writer appears to confirm this, by not listing Lucinda or her sisters as James Ramsey's children.

Since we are speaking of extended family what is your take, why-nut, on the talk regarding Fleet White's family of origin (child molestation vis a vis Fleet's Dad)?

Why nut ,I don't have any ideal my they listed 11 grandchildren. Bonnie thought maybe Irene might have had other children ,and their children was listed as his grandchildren.I was just wondering if this was true, why they did not list her children as step children. Could have just been a mistake in the obit.

Why nut have you found Irene's obituary, that would be interesting .Your posts are always interesting, and helpful.

bumping this up because I found something of interest. In JB's obit it says this..."survived by paternal step-grandparents Richard and Irene Wills of Sun City, FL....."
It seems Irene married again after JR's father died.

That's a huge stretch of the imagination. Better run it by BrotherMoon for approval.

Thanks for bringing more irrelevent information to the discussion. Why don't you just go back to watching "CSI" or some other crime-solving show. You don't have the aptitude or the intelligence to have any part in a real discussion.

I often use CSI for several reasons, I like the show and for me CSI means other things including Cancer Survivor and Cousin Sister Indeed. But mainly I like CSI because of the way investigators use evidence to solve crimes or medical mysteries.
