I found this article on staging a crime scene quite interesting.

Regardless of whether you are/were IDI or RDI, I think most of us will agree, that the Jonbenet crime scene was staged.

In the Jonbenet case, rather than staging a sexual assault, it is my opinion, that the perpetrator may have attempted to hide it, but having the victim fully clothed, and making the scene look like an kidnapping, or attempted kidnapping.

Also, usually, a person who tries to stage a murder crime scene, is close to the victim, such as a friend or relative.

There's an interesting reference in the paper to the Sheppard case. I think it's generally accepted now that the window washer killed Mrs. Sheppard (because he had one of her rings and he murdered again).

Is that an exception to the tendencies? I will try to look it up.

It looks like McCrary testified for Sheppard that the crime scene was staged. I think the defense's original idea was that the neighbor had killed Mrs. Sheppard. It wasn't until later that the window washer came under suspicion. I don't think there was actually any staging in the murder.

This crime scene was staged as much as the Miss America pageant.

Starting with the PHONY ransom note, the duct tape applied AFTER JonBenet was dead, the ligatures tied so loosely around her wrists that she could have slipped out of them....
