I don't quite believe Smit was on the take; let me clarify that by on the take I mean cold hard cash. I think Smit wanted to "please" if you will, Hunter, Haddon et al for reasons other than cash.<quoted text>
I remember that!
It was months after the murder, that it was claimed that she "fought for her life". There are too many claims made by Smit for me to believe he was "just VERY stupid".
Here is an example of VERY stupid and VERY unprofessional:
You have the whole world watching. You are a "seasoned" detective on the case now. You KNOW that there are, at that time especially, a MYRIAD of forums who are talking about the JBR case. One forum in particular, Jameson's forum, was a forum well known, was IDI (and so many other things for another discussion LOL), and the forum owner, Jameson is well known to the JBR discussion community.
NOW, being a seasoned detective, you not only consult with an "ordinary citizen" running a forum and provide "inside" information, but in many cases, QUOTED VER BATIM what she said in his own presentations and statements.
HOW STUPID IS THAT?????????? VERY STUPID. Whether on the take or just stupid, for a seasoned detective working a murder case to do that either shows blatant disregard for the process, extreme stupidity and unprofessionalism, and shows everyone that he was in fact, one of the bad guys in the case
And that's just for starters. Then we have Tracey, etc.
The list of wrongs that Smit committed is longer than his whole career just in this case!
