This is really upsetting; one of the great stabilizers and survivors of this case, Chief Mark Beckner, Chief since 1997, is retiring. He is a class act all the way, and this is so upsetting in the long journey for Justice for JonBenet :(

It will be sad to see him go Candy, as you said, he was one of the good guys. Thanks for letting us know. Unfortunately though, his leaving will diminish further the chance of any justice whatsoever for JBR.

Thanks Candy

As one of the good guys, it is always sad to see them leave what has become a cold case

Hopefully he has passed on his information and perspectives to those who will follow in his footsteps and I'm sure he will make himself available should any new developments come about or if any of the old developments find their way to the justice system

I wish him a happy retirement

Hi Capricorn. I agree with and would like to wrote that this officially a cold case only in the sense that powerful interests prevailed over justice and those who should have been prosecuted and convicted were never even taken to Trial.

He did some good work in Boulder and now with new eyes, we can now move this case forward, it's a good day for this case.

I was so happy to hear he is retiring. Now maybe the case will actually get solved!

You still writing people associated with the case Biz and saying stuff like..."Hi Linda, this will come as a surprise. I mean you no harm. I am a long time Jonbenet Ramsey murder case amateur investigator?" LMAO!

No wonder you don't see Beckner as an asset!

We know the new chief has an 8-hour PowerPoint presentation waiting for him or her.

Two weeks from today, and Chief Beckner will be retired, after 17 years as the head of this case and Boulder's Chief of Police.

Chief Beckner was promoted in the turbulence that followed John Eller's tenure, which ended with both Larry Mason and Linda Arndt suing the BPD, and the weak leadership of Chief Tom Koby.

In a case which Linda Arndt called "the vortex" for it's ability so suck everything down in it, careers were went through, reputations changed, Chief Beckner is a remarkable survivor. He brought unprecedented stability to this case. He commandeered the Ramsey case through the grand jury, which resulted in both John and Patsy Ramsey being INDICTED for child abuse leading to death. After Hunter refused to prosecute the case, the case went back to the BPD until 2002, and Beckner and the BPD had to deal with all kinds of things like Team Scamsey's Susan Stine trying to impersonate Chief Beckner in emails, and dupe the likes of Steve Thomas, Charlie Brennan and Rita Johnson into thinking she was him, Jameson turning in DNA to be tested, Team Scamsey whining about the original police investigation (which of course, the Scamsey "investigation" has come up with ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in 17 years). There were also the FALSE CONFESSIONS of "hitman" and "bnjazzy4ever", all of which were handled QUIETLY by the BPD, unlike Lacy's circus after the FALSE ARREST of Karr, etc. Chief Beckner survived it all. There is no public official of his importance with anywhere near his record of service to this case. I, for one, am eternally grateful for everything he and his wonderful Detectives and officers did for Justice for JonBenet, under the most trying circumstances. I am so glad he was Chief for so long in this case.

Chief Beckner also had to put up with the likes of Jackie Dilson, who repeatedly, ALONG WITH HER TEAM SCAMSEY FRIENDS tried to throw Chris Wolf under the bus for this crime. This is from my transcript of Fleet White's first lawsuit to get Krebs files, Chief Beckner on Dilson:

Chief Beckner on Jackie Dilson:

11 And in what you know in one particular case -- we had a woman

12 who came forward numerous times, every time some piece of

13 information was reported in the media, and seemed like she

14 was calling us up with some new suspicion on her boyfriend.

15 And she would try to tie in that new piece of information

16 with somehow making him seem like the suspect that may have

17 committed this and, in fact, trying to tie him in with some

18 other crimes.
