I would be staggered if the DNA in the Alie Berrelez case hadn't been tested in the JonBenet case, simply because it could be such an easy win if it matched.

Or am I missing a point here?

I would be too. They are both in CODIS and no hit. If you are missing something, I am too! If they were going to hit they would have when Stofer's was entered.

I am wondering if Terrance thinks when DNA is entered it has to be specified to be tested against a specific person.

Good questions. A forensic to forensic test on multi crime scene sites or convicted felon suspects might make a connection on the DNA in CODIS, but my point was that the Berrelez DNA was profiled only recently in 2011 and thus maybe not put into CODIS until last year. The same would go for Stofer who I understand was not a convicted felon.

The Ramseys also are not convicted felons so I would think there is no reason for their DNA to be entered and tested in CODIS, unless they provided voluntarily to be registered in CODIS. I did some research on Alie Berrelez and CODIS that I thought was interesting.

Alie Berrelez was kidnapped and murdered twenty years ago in 1993. Stofer died in 2001.

Local LE had Stofer's DNA but I believe it was not yet entered into CODIS because he was not yet a convicted felon of murder. In order to be in CODIS, DNA must be collected from either a crime scene or from a convicted felon of violent crime. Note also, the name connection is legally outside of CODIS in order to protect rights and there is a process to make that connection.

Did local LE compare Stofer's DNA (outside of CODIS) with other cases, eg JonBenet? I don't know, but I think they should have.

Note that not until recently in 2011 did local LE (not CODIS) develop a full profile of DNA from the Alie Berrelez crime scene and matched it in 2012 to that of Stofer. So that is why I asked if it has been checked with JonBenet. If not, then please do so.

From Wikipedia:
"On Feb. 8, 2011, several items of evidence were submitted to the CBI for new DNA testing. A CBI agent developed a complete DNA profile from an area of Alie’s underwear and from the waistband of her underwear. That DNA profile matched the DNA profile of Stofer. "We had to wait 18 years for forensic science to catch up to the evidence we had on hand," said Englewood police Chief John Collins, announcing the end to the Berrelez case on Tuesday. "It was unequivocally his DNA in her underwear and it had no business being there.""

http://unsolvedmysteries.wikia.com/wiki/Alie_...

Well, hopefully Stofer's full DNA is now in CODIS.

Have they done forensic to forensic comparisons on DNA from various crime scenes of young murdered children in the area (Berrelez, Neef, Ramsey, McKnight, etc.)? I have no idea how much effort that takes, but I agree that it should have been done. I'm not aware of any DNA potential in the Neef and McKnight cases. If there was, I think someone would have been charged.

If Stofer's DNA has been compared to the Touch DNA found on JonBenet Ramsey and there is no match, then what? Stofer is apparently not connected to JonBenet and the stun gun, SBTC baseball cap, Hi-Tec boots, and The Santa Clause tape are just coincidences or perhaps staged artifacts.

In an interview with Wickman in 2000 the reporter kind of implies it wasn't a stun gun and Kolar says it was likely the toy train tracks. Thomas says maybe the Hi-Tec boot print was from a cop. Now, all good people have got to be looking for the truth here, so when I see John San Augustin emphatically tell Aphrodite Jones in 2011 that the Hi-Tec boot print is still important, I am concerned about what is indeed the truth. I tend to believe that John San Augustin and Ollie North have been careful and honest in their conclusions about the Helgoth case. Instead of writing books, it would be a great TV show to have them all in a room and discuss the known facts.

However, just by the way things have been generally going on in this case, I'm thinking there is less than 50 percent chance that Stofer's DNA will be matched to that of JonBenet.

Kolar's stretch to use the train tracks to implicate Burke is as bizarre as Lacy's use of the DNA to implicate the intruder.

The profile DNA points to an intruder. No doubt about it. It doesn't point to anyone who resided in the house. I don't know where you get your logic that it doesn't point to an intruder.

I think it would only be run through the CODIS periodically if the CBI did it. I don't think Boulder PD would randomly run the profile DNA through CODIS. They have way too much to lose if there is ever a hit. They don't want to see this case solved

I dare say you can add lack of attention to detail to the list next to nonexistent sleuthing skills.

--Kolar -- Came up with the train track match, IMO that's a plus for him . The Helgoth death is littered with to much evidence that points toward him as being the prep in the JBR murder.,to the point that it appears he was set up for that, Santa Bill and family was rightfully a person of interest.

Bill could have wrote the note while Janet murdered JonBenet.Or Janet could've wrote the note and kill JonBenet, while Bill told her what to write and/or do.JMO.

So, did Janet and Bill go to the Ramsey home with the express intentions of molesting/killing or kidnapping Jonbenet? If kidnapping, why did they molest her and leave her body to be found instead of taking it in order to receive the ransom?

If their intention was molesting her, why write a ransom note that keeps them in the home far longer than any sane person would want to stay, and leaves behind a sample of their handwriting as well as possible fingerprints or DNA. This does not add up.

Only a cover-up by the family explains the ransom note, the molestation, the body left in the home and lovingly wrapped in a blanket and the pineapple in Jonbenet's intestines.
