I wanted to put this in the archives here. This is a letter Patsy Ramsey wrote and put on John Ramsey's campaign website when he was running for the State House of Representitives in Michigan in 2004. We can't format it here as it was formatted on the website, but it's significant historical writing from her:

Letter from Patsy
June 16th Letter

June 16th, 2004

Dear Family & Friends,

I hope all is well with you.

I am writing you today to update you on my health status and talk a little about John’s campaign. This past weekend I participated in the national Relay for Life Cancer benefit in Cheboygan, MI. It was a wonderful experience in a community that we have been spending a great deal of time in.

As you know, I am celebrating eleven years as a survivor and praying for many more. With regard to this tough battle, two weeks ago I took Chemotherapy #4 and had a severe adverse reaction. Today I will take treatment #5 in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital so that I can be closely monitored. The good news is that I am responding very well to the chemotherapy and the tumor is shrinking! We are praising God for that!

The bad news is that I will be unable to assist with the campaign while I am in the hospital. In light of the fact that I have to deal with the aftermath of two more chemo treatments, I won’t be able to physically handle all the things I’ve been doing for John’s campaign lately – like going door-to-door, handing out literature in parades, and most importantly, fundraising.

So… I NEED YOUR HELP !

Because of our unique situation, we have to do a significant amount media in order to get our message out and correct past misperceptions. We are currently ahead in the most recent poll that was run, but we are expecting one of our opponents to be very negative in his campaign tactics. In order to fight this, it requires a great deal of fundraising effort. The Primary Election is seven weeks from today, therefore we need help from supporters such as you. And we need your help now. Your contributions will help us pay for important television, radio, and direct mail advertising.

Thank you very much to the numerous people who have donated so far, both online and in the mail. Your support is appreciated in this critical time.

If you have not yet helped us in this important effort, or have not yet sent the maximum of $500 per person, please help by making an online donation to the Friends to Elect Ramsey by clicking here. If you prefer, you can send as big a check as possible to: Friends to Elect John Ramsey – 106 W. Carpenter St., Charlevoix, MI 49720.

I simply can’t be everywhere and I am not going to be able to spend time on the telephone talking with each of your while I am in chemotherapy. But we need to help John so I’m counting on YOU!

Thank you for your prayers and your financial support. I’ll let you know how the next two chemos go. God bless.

Love,

Patsy

Can you post another link, I'd like to see the original posting. It looks like it would be about 3 pages if hand written... The closely monitored part gives me the creeps like the vintage interview of Sandusky saying he loves kids.

For pinker, This came directly from the website Ramsey used to run for office. However, the original post was done in SCRIPT, not type, and not her handwriting either, but a generic handwriting computer script. INTERESTING. Unless someone saved a copy of it in it's original form, that's the only way to have seen it. And it copied as type, so go figure.

Notice how she uses the term "closely monitored" in her note here, and "monitor" was also used in the ransom note, for the umpteenth time, Patsy using words and phrases, AND ACRONYMS, etc. all STRAIGHT OUT OF THE JONBENET RAMSEY RANSOM NOTE...

That just shows me how innocent Patsy was. Had she written the RN, her own guilt would surely have made her self-conscious about using phrases from the RN and she wouldn't have used them in her letter.

I found this interesting interview with Patsy dated April, 1996, eight months BEFORE JonBenet's murder. I thought posting a few excerpts from that interview would provide greater insight into the kind of person Patsy was.

http://www.acandyrose.com/04001996NEWS-PatsyW...

"The importance of home and family has never been more talked about than it has in the nineties as men and women struggle to meet the demands of busy, complicated lives. In the midst of so many options and as a result of a life-threatening illness three years ago, Patsy Ramsey has chosen her lifestyle and has dedicated herself to the role of stay-at-home mother, a title that seems to be a bit of a misnomer, since Ramsey is rarely at home. She fills her days with volunteer service to the community and in her children's schools. In addition, she regularly travels with her husband John, CEO and president of Access Graphics, an international distributor of computer products that is headquartered in Boulder. "I've intentionally chosen not to participate in anything that requires evening meetings," says Ramsey. "That's the time when my family really comes first. Whether we're dining in or out, dinner time is set aside to review everyone's daily activities and talk things over."

As a woman formerly involved in a successful career in advertising as well as other ventures, choosing to abandon the career for what some would consider an unexciting lifestyle was an easy decision. "Being a mother and mentor to my children is the most important role I will play in my life," she says. "It is certainly the most difficult job I'll ever have!"

For Ramsey, her husband John, and their own children, Burke, 9, JonBenet 5, and her step-children Melinda and John Andrew, the decision has been an ideal one and has led to the family's overall well-being. "It's a big job to be a full-time wife and mother," says Ramsey.

Since relocating to Boulder from Atlanta in 1990, Ramsey's family has continued to be very important to her. In 1993 she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, an illness she has since learned runs in her family. It has been Ramsey's personal strength, powerful love of family, and deep sense of faith in a Divine healing that enabled her to stay the course through nine months of chemotherapy treatments at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda.

During Ramsey's battle with cancer, her mother came to live with the family in Boulder for a year. "Coincidentally," Ramsey recalls, "my mother had just retired two days before my diagnosis from a full time job that she had enjoyed for several years after her children were grown -just in time to be a full time mom again! She not only took care of me, but she helped John take care of our children as well. We couldn't have gotten along without her." Because Ramsey's father works with John at Access Graphics in Boulder, he was also close during that time, and the family had many friends who offered their support as well. "Even though we had only lived in Boulder a short time, our friends and neighbors came to our rescue with prepared meals, and they drove the kids to school and piano lessons -they gave us an overwhelming amount of moral support. We were surely blessed."

Even as everyone around her was so wonderful to her children, says Ramsey, "I knew that ultimately, they were my real reason to fight the cancer and live! No one can take care of my kids and do the things I want to do with them the way I can. And I plan to be around for a long time to see them through."

In light of all of Ramsey's family obligations, chosen responsibilities and devoted energy on her volunteer work, she admits that there are other interests that she hasn't found time to pursue. "I'd love to find the time to paint," she says. "Somehow I always think I'll get to it during the summer when we're in our cottage in Michigan. But it hasn't happened - yet!"

The Ramsey family summer house may not yet be home to Ramsey artistry, but it is home to countless other activities for the Ramseys and their children. It's the most wonderful spot on earth, " says Ramsey. Obviously, other people in the small town of Charlevoix (MI) agree; this July, the house will be part of the local tour of homes, a benefit fund raiser for the local area hospital.

Ramsey is no stranger to home tours. Her Boulder home was part of the Historic Boulder Holiday Home Tour in December, 1994. "That was the first Christmas after my chemotherapy treatments, " recalls Ramsey. "I was still wearing my wig when the guests arrived. It was really good therapy to be decorating and getting ready for the tour, to get back into fun things again. You'd never know that 2000 people came through the house in two days! I began to give something back to the community after being given a second chance at life."

With this second chance, Patsy Ramsey plans to enjoy each day and live for the moment. She is doing more than sustaining herself and her family. She has a favorite quotation by Edwin Markham that she truly lives by;

"It is destiny which makes us brothers~ None goes by his wayalone. All that we send into the lives of others, Comes back into our own."

There's no doubt that Ramsey works to spread the good fortune and love she has experienced in her own life. Today, she lives cancer-free, and she shares her joy and enthusiasm for life with everyone around her. As she says, "Being alive makes me happy."

For all their talk of privacy both about the murder and of Patsy's cancer, etc., when John was running for office and they were looking for donations and votes, John used the murder and spent more time talking about it then, than he did during the investigation.

Patsy now was talking about her own illness for donations is also just as sickening

When it suited them, they knew how to milk their "private" stuff for money; but we knew that

Thanks for reminding us all

I was just re-reading a copy of the original ransom note in the original handwriting script and ONCE AGAIN, the light went on about a phrase in the ransom note that she also used in this note.

In the ransom note, the phrase is used "Speaking to anyone about your situation"

In this note she uses the phrase "Because of our unique situation"...

So, in your mind, Patsy's usage of the word "situation" means that she wrote the note since the word "situation" can be found in the ransom note?
Interesting... I wonder where Wolf Blitzer was on the night of the murder?
I'm sure you'll ask him the next time you're on CNN Lin. And I noticed COWARDLY, CRAVEN CNN was THE LAST major news outlet to cover the news about the grand jury indicting both John and Patsy Ramsey for child abuse leading to death, and as they were dead last in the world to cover it, who should they just HAPPEN to have an intervew with but LIN WOOD?

Patsy Ramsey uses this phrase, as does the ransom note writer, and SHE WAS in the house when the victim was murdered, this historical writing also uses "closely monitored", another ransom note word Patsy Ramsey JUST HAPPENS to use. This is only one writing of hers, I've mentioned all the other times we caught her using words, phrases, ACRONYMS, etc. I realize why you can't admit the truth about the note, and will make every excuse in the book for YOUR CLIENT.

I doubt if it was written by hand. Burke's teachers said that after the murder Patsy communications with them were all typed.

("Monitor"--good catch.)

Patsy most likely didn't want to give Burke's teachers any more handwriting exemplars. I'll bet her lawyers told her to do that, to start typing letters.

Nonetheless, there's a 48 Hours crock in which Patsy Ramsey is sitting in her living room in Atlanta, writing away on a similar pad of paper that was used to write the ransom note on.

Yea that's it! Her Lawyers advised her to type the letters much like everything else....if not for those darn lawyers...she and her accomplice errrh I mean husband would have been so much more forthcoming. All joking aside...nice post Candy.

Among those who think that an intruder did it, what's the explanation for "$118,000.00" in the ransom note? The writer was so particular that starting to include "Mrs. Ramsey" in the salutation meant that the note had to be abandoned; we can be sure that the amount wasn't a mistake.

Lou Smit suggested that $118,000 would convert to about a million pesos. Implausible. And wrong. At the time Smit made the comment,$118,000 would convert to about a million pesos, but in December of 1996, it wouldn't have because the exchange rate was different.

There is no consensus among IDI.
Some think that 118 may be a reference to psalm 118 or to the bonus amount as a message to the Ramseys, letting them know the –cough, cough – kidnapper “knows” them. Most of us reject the notion that a Ramsey would have used this number simply because it could be construed as being self-incriminating (just as using 2 ˝ pages of handwriting, and not disposing of pen or pad would be self-incriminating).

118 is the number of victim case studies used as formation for “Sexual Homicides: Patterns and Motives.” A book written by FBI Profiler (don’t try to grow a brain) John Douglas. This number is repeated many times in the book and is also mentioned in the Douglas, Olshaker 1995 book Mindhunter.

118 is also the running time for the movie Silence of the Lambs. In the movie, the head of the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit is named jack Crawford. This character was modeled after retired FBI profiler, former head of the BSU (it is up to you now) John Douglas.

118 is the number of Kojak (tv series) episodes aired.

118 is the number of The Untouchables (tv series) episodes aired.

If you drive 60 miles per hour, then it will take you 118 minutes to drive118 miles. Many highways have an Exit 118. 1:18 is the scale used for Hotwheels (and many other toy vehicles).

A mathematically minded person might recognize 118 as nontotient; a world traveler might recognize it as directory assistance in several European countries and as the emergency number in several other countries.

The “Wilderness Skills Series” offers “Bush Knots,” 118 minutes of knot tying for the beginner (on dvd or video).

118 could be personally significant to the killer.

118 as just an odd number used to attract attention and arouse suspicions.

Who knows?

But isn't one idea that this was a kidnapping gone bad? In that case the kidnapper would use a larger personally significant number, like maybe add a zero.

If a Ramsey wouldn't use an obvious reference to John's bonus, then surely the same applies to an intruder who would be narrowing the field dramatically by including that. If the intruder was a casual rummager through personal files, why would he pick that small amount? I'd go for the yearly.

But I think you're on the right track about arousing suspicion.
