Now that even the President of ABC News is ducking the question of how much they paid John Ramsey for video footage and photo rights for their disgraceful week of infomercials for his book, it's time to start tallying up how much money has John (and before him, John and Patsy) made from this case.

John was a businessman and been around for every conceivable profit making deal to do with this case. Compare THAT to the underfunded, SHORT LIVED, "JonBenet Foundation" and "Fair Justice" website, WHICH HASN'T BEEN UPDATED SINCE 2009, WHEN HE LAUNCHED IT...

He and Patsy were paid an advance of $600,000 for "Death of Innocence". He promised after "paying our lawyers" to donate to the UNDERFUNDED, FORGOTTEN "JonBenet Foundation", which never received a dime from any book proceeds. It was rumored they were paid for the A&E Special in 1998 by Tracey DELIBERATELY DESIGNED to coincide with the Ramsey grand jury. It was said he was paid again by Tracey for the last documentary Tracey did, the one that said the Ramseys were "broke and broken" and had sold their boat, when in fact, their boat had not been sold. He was rumored to be paid $100,000 with Patsy for their INFAMOUS interview with The National Enquirer which CHANGED BURKE'S STORY, shortly before they sued Thomas. He was paid by Aphrodite Jones/and or ID Discovery for footage that she used in her one sided crock, and he was paid God knows how much for the use of video by ABC for this book, and paid an advance we also don't know for the book itself. The National Enquirer paid him for the photos of his wedding to his third wife last year. We also don't know how much he and others (except notoriously, Jameson, who pocketed $40,000 for one Enquirer book) have made from selling stories on the side to The National Enquirer, Globe, etc. WHO PAY IN UNTRACABLE CASH IN AN ENVELOPE as we all learned from the Miller Trial. These are just SOME of the ways Ramsey has personally profited from the unsolved MURDER of his daughter.

John can thank two people for enhancing his marketablity with the gutless mainstream media. One, Steve Thomas, who capitulated fast in the short lived lawsuit between he and the Ramseys, and wrote John and Patsy a check QUICKLY via his publisher. The mainstream media DROPPED the "Patsy did it theory" like a rock when Thomas folded, and have NEVER picked it back up. And two, Mary Lacy, who arrested the wrong man in Thailand for this crime, and then exonorated John, Patsy and Burke ONLY, I repeat ONLY THEM, in spite of no match to the unsourced DNA and no perp in custody.

Lacy's the Haley Barbour of Boulder..so corrupt!
I agree with you about ST screwing this all up, nobody should write a book about an unsolved case that's active.

Brilliant Greystone! Thank you.

I can't even begin to imagine the amount of money this case has cost John in terms of both actual expenditure and loss of income, but THAT is something his begrudging and judgemental (and NOSY) accusers choose to turn a blind to.

If I hadn't seen the evidence with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed that people actually exist who would be so cold, harsh and mean-spirited as to condemn a man who lost everything which was most important to him in this world the little "good" that occasionally comes his way.

For some people, "riches" are calculated in terms of money. They don't seem to realize that not everyone is like them. I would be willing to bet everything I own that John would happily and unreservedly give away everything HE owns if he could turn back the clock and have back the life he had prior to losing his most precious possessions, i.e. his two daughters and later his wife.

To promote the idea that he's "profiting" from their deaths is disgusting and shameless!

Speaking of NOSY accusers, do you feel the same, as you SHOULD about the nosiness of the accusers of Bill McReynolds? Fleet White? Everyone else whose life has been dissected on the internet?

I don't remember seeing you so upset about them and as a matter of fact have joined in from time to time, so hypocrisy is alive and well in Lynetteworld

As for the profiting, whether you want to admit it or not, or whether you like it or not, John HAS profited and continues to profit from their deaths. That is just a fact. They profited from their first "book", although the money was SUPPOSED to go to charity and never did, and he is now profiting from a second book. He SOLD Patsy's pictures of her during her most crucial and personal times. He could have donated them to a Cancer foundation but he CHOSE to sell them.

When he ran for office, he and Patsy USED the murder of JBR for their campaign and had no problem speaking endlessly about it and when it came time for the investigation, suddenly just couldn't speak of it, blah blah

I'm sure Patsy would NOT be pleased with her photos being sold for profit while she was bald with the money going to John's NEW wife

What HE is doing is disgusting and shameless, following in the footsteps of what THEY did in years past which was disgusting and shameless

I predict in years to come, Burke will also come out with a book and $ell his $tory

The Ramseys lost their daughter via unspeakable acts the Intruder performed in the basement of her home. In addition, John Ramsey lost his job, spent a fortune on a multitude of lawyers, lost his home, lost insurance coverage on his cancer-patient wife. The Ramseys, thanks to the tabloids and the incompetent BPD, became the most hated couple in America, with John Ramsey being virtually unemployable.

And all these RDI folks can come up with is a few paltry media payments or some lunch re-imbursements and free cab fares. All supposedly balancing the scales because turning forty was some sort of ordeal.

The Ramseys can take being the most hated couple in America, they're strong! Strong enough to find their six year old dead in their basement and get up and call the pilot to leave town and leave her under the Christmas tree. The average person would be too stunned to remember their name, let alone a phone number.
They were strong enough to sit down and compose a long list of things they wanted from the house. Strong enough to view an array of dresses from the department store and design a hat. Strong enough to go on tv one day after the funeral.
Don't worry about the Ramseys, they can handle anything because they're strong! Strong as steel.

Fools Gold must not have read the memo that Ramsey JUST LOVES the tabloids now. They paid for a VERY EXPENSIVE reception last Summer at historic Castle Farms, and a PRO John article graces the HIGHLY REPUTABLE Globe rag this week.

Where ever John got married, it was not Charlevoix County, MI. I have yet to find a marriage license for he and Jan last year at ANYTIME last year.

Good post RT, yep, they were strong when it was important for THEM, but not for their baby; then they were like two very worthless idiots

I think you are the one who is upset about others having money as you have none. Of course you can always pretend can't you? You can say that you are young, beautiful, slender and rich when in fact you are just the opposite of all those things. Not that anybody would believe what you say.

Perhaps if you had ever worked a day in your life, you could have money. Not much you can do about the other areas except the fat. You could try dieting but I'm not sure you could lose two hundred pounds on any diet. However, I guess it is worth a try, huh?

Excellent post, Cappy, and I agree.

Am having an argument about Fleet White on another forum. A religious fundamentalist is arguing that no one of Patsy's faith could murder anyone and that none of John's faith could molest anyone.

Er, the Whites are massively religious so anyone excluding the Rams on religious grounds has to exclude the Whites. The reverse, of course, isn't the case: highly religious, traditional families are second only to addicts for family child physical, mental and sexual abuse.

It's amazing isn't it? So many of the reasons that are given for the Ramseys' not having done it apply to all the same people who they are willingly pointing fingers at

I also agree about the traditional and highly religious families being less than what they pretend to be on the outside facade. I also find so many cases where the abusers and murderers are deeply "religious" people who are active in their places of worship and follow all the rules (on the outside) but what goes on behind closed doors is another story altogether. I would venture to guess that many of the anti "everything" groups that spew hatred towards other groups all go to church, etc. every Sunday and follow their religions when convenient.

It's something we see every day and we see it right here on the board.

Hatred of others for their race, color, etc. is a religion itself and so many are members not even knowing it, but definitely denying it!

I'm not at all surprised that the Ramseys are being held up as saints because they were "religious"

My favorite Patsy story is the phone call tormenting the reporter's wife that she was his mistress. Now THAT is someone who is far from pious IMO.

Agree totally. The Stines also escape any IDI criticism despite Becknergate and what that could have done to the investigation. Not saying that the Stines were involved in the murder but they bear as much scrutiny as the Whites surely.

On Patsy, agree about that story. Must say also that the 'Lazarus' outburst over JBR's corpse had the horrible feeling of a rehearsed line.

He was whipped in more painful ways than just finances, too.
He lost his baby girl, while he slept. He will never recover from that. He didn't protect her from this devil nor did he stop the avalanche of media from destroying his family's privacy and sense of security.
Many owe him their deepest regrets.
--Wow! Just wow!
Couldn't agree with you all more!
And like you, I admire a loving father who has done all these things and more, much more, I'm sure. What a shrewdy!
I wonder, though, if he doesn't regret not killing both children? He could have doubled his profits without increasing his initial investment; the total risk would have been about the same. Hmmm
Maybe it's not too late. He could get at least two more book deals and perhaps a Pulitzer.
I think this could be the start of something big. You guys were right, by golly.
Maybe a movie production business featuring sequels.
For instance,
Who Murdered My Kid?
Did You Murder My Kid?
Would You Like To Murder My Kid?
I'd Like To Murder My Kid.
May I Murder Your Kid?
Who Murdered My Kid? II
Who Murdered My Other Kid?
Who murdered My Other Kid? II
Should You Murder Your Kid?(Subtitled, What The Hell, Might As Well!)
Let's All Kill A Few Brats Today, What The Hey?
I see enormous production value here. Wow. How brilliant.
I am sure the two of them had it all worked out long ago. Awesome!
he didn't "lose" his baby girl, he knew just where to "find" her. You're full of chit. LOL
