From Steve Thomas's resignation letter 8/6/98:

•"Innocent people were not "cleared", publicly or otherwise, EVEN WHEN IT WAS UNMISTAKABLY THE RIGHT THING TO DO, AS REPUTATIONS AND LIVES WERE BEING DESTROYED. Some in the district attorney's office, to this day, pursue weak, defenseless, and innocent people in shameless tactics that one couldn't believe more bizarre if it were made up."

When the police had jurisdiction over this case, from 12/26/96 until June 20, 1998, when it was turned over to the Boulder DA's office, Team Scamsey started putting out these "other names" of possible suspects like Fleet and Priscilla White, Bill and Janet McReynolds, Chris Wolf, Linda Hoffmann-Pugh, Jeff Merrick, and those INNOCENT PEOPLE as Steve Thomas RIGHTLY called them complained loudly, mostly to the hardest working Detective on the case, who still has written the most police reports on the case, Steve Thomas. He was acutely aware of how badly they were being treated, how they were imploring LE to clear them, and how Hunter and company would not. THAT'S what created the Ramsey bus of false suspects without a shred of evidence. That was noteworthy enough that Steve Thomas noted how WRONG it was that these people had not been cleared in his resignation letter. That and other things that DELIBERATELY threw this case, also noted by ST:

"I was repeatedly reminded by some in the district attorney's office just how powerful and talented and resourceful particular defense attorneys were. How could decisions be made this way?

•There is evidence that was critical to the investigation, that to this day has never been collected, because neither search warrants nor other means were supported to do so. Not to mention evidence which still sits today, untested in the laboratory, as differences continue about how to proceed.

•While investigative efforts were rebuffed, my search warrant affidavits and attempts to gather evidence in the murder investigation of a six year old child were met with refusals and, instead, the suggestion that we "ask the permission of the Ramseys" before proceeding. And just before conducting the Ramsey interviews, I thought it inconceivable I was being lectured on "building trust".

"THESE ARE BUT A FEW OF THE MANY EXAMPLES OF WHY I CHOSE TO LEAVE. Having to convince, to plead at times, to a district attorney's office to assist us in the murder of a little girl, by way of the most basic of investigative requests, was simply absurd."

At the end of the day, the Grand Jury made the ultimate decision and they saw way more than any of us have

Their decision speaks for itself and spoke for JBR. Unfortunately, the "dirt" of Boulder would not allow her any justice

The only thing more pitiful than that are those who defend murderers to this day. THAT is pitiful

At the top of any list of truly FACTUALLY INNOCENT witnesses thrown under the bus to be perps by "certain people" connected to "certain people" are Fleet and Priscilla White. They SHOULD have been EASILY able to obtain an exoneration letter from law enforcement. But no. Stan Garnett showed a very DISTURBING side of himself in his unprovocted CALLOUS response to the Whites.

Whoever is Paula/The Ramsey's latest victim to be "it" in her book, and any other "projects" the always GREEDY Team Scamsey peddles is going to be seeking similar relief from the DA's office GUARANTEED. This "problem" will not go away, of INNOCENT people refusing to go quietly and be beat up and LIBELED again as perps in this case.

I believe the Whites have always been seeking relief from the Government because they cannot afford private lawyers, private remedies to go after the people that have done this to them. And it's the role of the DA to "seek justice" and the Whites found little to none from him when they went to him. A sad black eye once again for the Boulder DA's office, and showing once again how LITTLE TO NOTHING has changed in a substantive way in that office since ST's resignation letter in 1998, with two different DA's after that. Special favors, exonerations, and everything else for the Ramseys, and all the other bus victims get kicked in the teeth.

Bill and Janet McReynolds letter to the Daily Camera, expressing similar concerns as the Whites, also unable to be cleared, and in fact, re-investigated:

www.dailycamera.com

"We wish to commend the Boulder City Council for giving a hearing to Fleet White Jr., who is requesting a special prosecutor in the JonBenet Ramsey murder. We believe that the questions raised about the conduct of the District Attorney, Alex Hunter, in this case demand the most serious consideration.

Our family has been under scrutiny almost from the beginning of this case. Every member of our family has been interrogated and our two sons were required to give fingerprints, handwriting samples and DNA, even though neither of them was aware of the existence of little JonBenet before she was killed.

In the course of the interrogations we became acquainted with Detective Steve Thomas, recently resigned, and his partner, Ron Gossage. We have the highest respect for them.

In July, we returned to Boulder after a year`s absence and were interviewed by prosecutors in the District Attorney`s office. we were not encouraged by the discoveries we made.

The latest "scuttlebutt" that we are receiving is that, indeed, there will be a Grand Jury investigation orchestrated by the District Attorney and that there will be no indictment.

We do not see that prognosis as being beneficial to the hundreds of innocent people who, like ourselves, have been caught in the web of evil surrounding this case.

Good people, wake up. This little girl, JonBenet, did not commit suicide.

I don't know why posters resent it when newish posters go back to read what was missed when they were not here. Unless someone is posting from a phone, I don't know why he or she can not look down the list of topics and find the one he/she wants. If the forum were more active, it would be moving at an even faster pace.
