Wondering does anyone ehre know much about the militant republican group 'Saor Uladh'which was based in east Tyrone in the 1950's. The leader was Liam Kelly from Pomeroy. Connie Green (an ex British Commando) was second in command of the Saor Ulagh brigade the night he was shot at Roslea Barracks. I know he is buried in Carrickroe graveyard between Emyvale and Aughnacloy.
I know Kelly was threw out of the IRA for insubordination after planning an attack without army council approval, apparently as many Tyrone volunteers were unhappy about the lack of military action against the British in the early 1950s. When Kelly was put out of the IRA he formed Saor Uladh (Free Ulster) and took most of East Tyrone with him.
If anyone has any other info on Liam Kelly, Connie Green or Saor Uladh id be grateful.
