If you post on the "abortion blog.. you are truly psychotic. Americans are about 50 years behind the cultural discussion times. That is a truly exhausted and resolved issue.
The US is still a country of 19C conservative mentality. Thankfully, you had many immigrants after WW2 to bring some currency to your intellectual (if there is such a thing) life.
but seriously: White anglo manifest destiny is dead. It is an enormous boat anchor on your national psyche. Have you heard the term:Globalization... McLuhan's Global village??
Get with it. However, electing Obama is a sign that some people are aware of what is happening.. Thankfully.
You need to change your friends and associates, they are dragging you down....
Given that you don't know one G-ddamned thing about me, except what you think you know, which is a far cry from reality, I will pay you the compliment of being blunt and say that I am pro-abortion. In fact, my religion (Judaism) requires that if a pregnancy threatens the mother's life, at any stage, an abortion be performed. But, since this is not a thread on abortion, I will just let you have that much of me.

In retrospect, however, you speak about having emigrated to Canada from another country; you speak of Canada as the greatest country in the world; you seem to know quite a bit about the U.S. This leaves me to wonder, and quite plausibly be correct about it; you must have been a citizen of the United States prior to emigrating to Canada. If I am correct, and I certainly believe I am, I wonder from what, or whom, are you hiding in Canada?

Who knows, maybe you're an illegal Canadian.

"Inside Job" Director Charles Ferguson: Wall Street Has Turned the U.S. into a "Predatory Nation" / May 29, 2012 / http://tinyurl.com/6v49j98
Two years after directing the Academy Award-winning documentary,“Inside Job,” filmmaker Charles Ferguson returns with a new book,“Predator Nation: Corporate Criminals, Political Corruption, and the Hijacking of America.” Ferguson explores why no top financial executives have been jailed for their role in the nation’s worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. We also discuss Larry Summers and the revolving door between academia and Wall Street, as well as the key role Democrats have played in deregulating the financial industry. According to Ferguson, a "predatory elite" has "taken over significant portions of economic policy and of the political system, and also, unfortunately, major portions of the economics discipline."

Many people are following the presidential election closely with the idea that the outcome will have a major impact on national policy. However, according to Steven Pearlstein, a veteran Washington Post columnist and reporter, it may not matter who wins the election. In a column last week, Pearlstein told readers that the top executives of some of the country’s largest companies are getting together to craft a budget package that they will try to push through Congress and get the president to sign.

Therealnews I appreciate what you posted but this is NOT whats going to Kill the US. For the above to even exist there has to be workers working in the US period. You mention Steel SS and medicare etc. Well so far the NONE of the News agency actually told Americans whats really going to kill the U.S.

Im a numbers guy. Researching for the last 5 years to actually look LONG term into the Base of this country wheels. The two Most Important things Americans needs to pay attention to is three Issues

1 Labor Force Participation Rates
2 H.S. Graduation rates
3 Welfare costs
4 US Census

In a nut shell

Dem welfare 64

H.S. grad rates started to decline in 1969 man on the moon year

70s SSI was created, under SSI and Alien immigrant under certain conditions can receive GOV SSI. Mexican Anchor babies, now Mom can also get Gov asst.

Clinton NAFTA factories going to Mexico

Clinton 2000 Free Trade ACT. U.S. lost over 42,300 US factories by 2009 Six Million Direct Jobs 90 Million other jobs affected

Last year 50.4% of US births were Minorities

Last year 48% of US births were paid by Medicaid

That said according to Govs Bureau of Labor Statistics a Non HS grad Labor Force Participation Rate was a measly 46% Obviously the 54% will need Gov asst to live

Now lets see how Big that 54% NIT being in the labor force and how big US welfare will get

Grads rates rounded off
Whites 75% H.S.graduation rate...25% no HS diploma
Hispanics, 55% H.S.Graduation rate... 45% with NO diploma
Blacks, 50% H.S.Graduation rate... 50% with NO Diploma

Hispanic pop doubled in the last 10 years/look at their grad rates

Remember the 50.4% minority births being that 48% of all births was paid by Medicaid

2010 census. Between 2010 and 2018 their will be over 45 million kids becoming the age of 18. More then half will have an average H.D. Diploma of 56% the rest of that 45 million will need Welfare to live off of.

Last year 63% of the TOTAL Federal budget were checks written to individuals the US receives NO services from. SS is NOT included in that 63%

So if the US Deficit was at 0 tomorrow, the above Welfare coming down the road will Bankrupt the US forever

My numbers above come from FACTS obtained form US Government sites in CONTEXT verbatim. that track these numbers for Decades. NONE comes from CNN FOX Blogs etc ALL REAL NUMBERS

This situation exist today. I live and work part time in Puerto Rico

P.R. over 40% flunk or quit school. Over 60% of some type of Gov Assistance. P.R. Pop 3.8 Million, Budget 28.7 Billion.( US sends 18 Billion down to PR very year.

PR homes all have steel bars in window openings. PR murder is 900 a year for 3.8 million

PR Labor Force Participation Rate is 40% with 40% not having a HS Diploma

US Labor Force Participation Rate presently for a NON HS Diploma 46% After that plug into those 45 Million kids and the US will be forever Broke Wall street etc is NOT what going to eventually the country My numbers shows withing a decade or so from now the US is toast.

The baby boomer generation is headed for a shock as it hits retirement: many of them will be long on life expectancy but short on savings. The two main strategies for funding retirement -- lifetime pensions and 401(k)-style savings plans -- are in serious trouble. In "Can You Afford to Retire?" FRONTLINE correspondent Hedrick Smith ("Is Wal-Mart Good for America?") investigates this looming financial crisis and the outlook for middle-class Americans.(more)»

Retiring Boomers Find 401(k) Plans Fall Short
February 19, 2011 / http://tinyurl.com/47ong3n
The 401(k) generation is beginning to retire, and it isn't a pretty sight.
The retirement savings plans that many baby boomers thought would see them through old age are falling short in many cases.
The median household headed by a person aged 60 to 62 with a 401(k) account has less than one-quarter of what is needed in that account to maintain its standard of living in retirement, according to data compiled by the Federal Reserve and analyzed by the Center for Retirement Research at Boston College for The Wall Street Journal. Even counting Social Security and any pensions or other savings, most 401(k) participants appear to have insufficient savings. Data from other sources also show big gaps between savings and what people need, and the financial crisis has made things worse.

Re: DEE,DEE, Cutral

Yes. I f---d up and didn't present my text very well. and embarrassing too to be caught by an obvious conservative dummy.. But that happens. i was drinking too much wine and not really paying attention to what I was doing.. and you must have seen that I did use the word cultural further in my text. I am sure you saw the word...

So.. I will proceed and once again in my simple way straighten you out on some realities that you and your cohorts are totally, as usual wrong about.
The digital revolution cannot exist without content. You can design a machine but it has to have a purpose. The purpose of computers, mainly, now, is to communicate.. which is content...

We are now in an abstract and symbolic, information and entertainment economy. Hard tangibles will still be around, but the future will be more about the creation of cerebral/symbolic products. In the developed countries, anyway.
There was a point when Microsoft stock passed the value of General Motors. Some people used that as the tipping point when the information economy overtook the traditional economy. I am not sure that was the final point. but it will definitely come, just like China will soon be the strongest economy on the planet.

So, your idea that Liberals create nothing.. is blindly wrong.. they create significant wealth in a new paradigm.

Former Harvard Business School Prof Blasts Bush
7/16/2004 http://tinyurl.com/z555z

Business scholar says president was 'shallow,''flippant' in 1970s class

Tsurumi—now a professor of international business at Baruch College in the City University of New York—said he remembers the future president as scoring in the bottom 10 percent of students in the class.

The White House did not reply to requests for comment on Bush’s time at HBS.

Tsurumi said he particularly recalls Bush’s right-wing extremism at the time, which he said was reflected in off-hand comments equating the New Deal of the 1930s with socialism and the corporation-regulating Securities and Exchange Commission with “an enemy of capitalism.”

“I vividly remember that he made a comment saying that people are poor because they’re lazy,” Tsurumi said.

Tsurumi also said Bush displayed a sense of arrogance about his prominent family, including his father, former U.S. President George H.W. Bush.

“[George W. Bush] didn’t stand out as the most promising student, but...he made it sure we understood how well he was connected,” Tsurumi said.“He wasn’t bashful about how he was being pushed upward by Dad’s connections.”

Tsurumi said that the younger Bush boasted that his father’s political string-pulling had gotten him to the top of the waiting list for the Texas National Guard instead of serving in Vietnam. When other students were frantically scrambling for summer jobs, Tsurumi said, Bush explained that he was planning instead for a visit to his father in Beijing, where the senior Bush was serving at the time as the special U.S. envoy to China.

Even if every minority in the country (excluding women as a minority)voted for one candidate that candidate would lose if all non-hispanic whites voted for an opposing candidate.

The fact of the matter is no one can be elected to any federal office in this country without a large block of non-hispanic White folks supporting him or her.

Non-hispanic Whites are in control.

It's interesting what you say about Canadian media covering a lot of issues around the world, which gives you the "knowledge" you have about the U.S. The media in the U.S. doesn't repay that courtesy with regards to Canada, which at minimum in the ratings game, Canada isn't that important to us.

You're confusing statements with inferences. What I say by my user name is that I'm a Democrat with a certain amount of conservatism on certain issues. Fact is, you don't know on which issues I take a more conservative posture, and to which extent that is, or on which issues I lean towards the left, unless I tell you. The Mob, your local union boss, your ex-wife/ex-husband. There's a plethora of others; shall I continue?

Look, fact is, and by your own admission, you can't claim you're a "natural born Canadian citizen" like I can say I'm a natural born American citizen. So, bottom line, you're an immigrant. You may have emigrated to Canada legally, or perhaps are on some student visa, or maybe even stayed after your visa expired.

The only other Country with tougher immigration laws than the U.S., especially post 9/11, is Israel. So if a foreign national remaining in the U.S. on an expired visa is something that happens more often than we care to admit, I have to believe that you can live 20 years in Canada under the same circumstances, before anyone is alerted to the matter. And, given that you folks are so "friendly" in Canada (I'll never forget your Home Depot example), I'm sure people will keep their pie holes shut, so long as you're "nice" to them.

The only thing Canada has that I would like the U.S. to have as well, is a relationship with Cuba, and that's just so I can import my favorite cigar, the Montecristo #2, and not have to get on a plane to the Bahamas to smoke one.

Then again, it wasn't towards Canada that the former Soviet Union parked and aimed missiles in Cuba; was it? So, I'll take a few days off from the office and get on a plane to enjoy a good cigar any day of the week and twice on Shabbat.

That's about it.

So you can keep your "beautiful" Canada if you must. It's of no consequence to me in the least. I'll be over joyous with my purple mountains majesty and the white foam from sea to shining sea, even if I have to deal with folks trying to get into MY Country, in manners that are not so "Kosher."

""The mob etc..."" you can really come up with some great ideas. Sounds like an offshoot of American lifestyles after watching a series of Rocky movies. Most people, me included, are just folks leading a normal kind of life. That's why Canada is the place to be. Don't worry, I am legal and will live the rest of my natural life here.

Yes, the Canadian Prime Minister years ago upset Nixon? by having normal relations with Cuba.
Canadians vacation there often, and Cuban cigars are available at any smoke shop here. Yankee tourists load up and smuggle them back to the US. plus Persian carpets. Looks like "Liberty and Freedom' to me.....

"Missles aimed" at Russia from Europe were ok though..??

You have greater concerns than who gets into your country. The US needs to understand the new realities of the 21 C.

Back to US media and no Canadian coverage: or other international coverage:
That is part of the propaganda plan. They don't want ordinary Americans seeing that life is actually better in many other countries. Just like Russian media censorship.
