The USA did take the SW from Mexico! They invaded under false pretext (reminds me of the Gulf of Tonkin incident, Pres Polk running to Congress,“We've been invaded!” when in fact under his orders Gen. Zachary Taylor had invaded Mexico).
The “Mexican War”... better named the “War of Agression from the East”.
There is nothing inaccurate about history as taught in Mexico. It's all in what is emphasized, and what is ignored. There are a lot of facts related to the “Mexican War” which are no included in the gringo accounts.
so, where do the american indians stand in your "history" book?

from what I read, the american indians were here first. and the mexicans and other foreign powers were at war with them to take the land away from them.

do you deny this?

None of this matters, even if the Mexican-American War never occurred, Mexicans would still be escaping to the United States today. The fact you are in the US today is telling and speaks louder and in MORE volume than your history lessons.

You're paranoid. Most of the “reconquista” rhetoric comes from smartassed radical college kids, ok. Immigrants largey are assimilating to life in this country. If they remain in Mexican barrios, continue with their culture, so what? I know lots of people like that. They're cool. Some of them have been here for generations and still are ethnically and culturally Mexican. So what?
And I mean they've been here forever, really. Get a grip.
with a president who has americans as his first priority, we will get rid of all the illegals.

it's been done before, and it will happen again. mark my words.

Hey Red, why do you and others as well have so much trouble comprehending the word ""if?" I stand by my post as written. To make the point without using Blacks, I'm saying that the U.S. Gov't did not enact the welfare programs to help out poor people.(FDR being a possible exception.) The Gov't created those programs, and continues to fund them, as a means to subsidize other aspects of the U.S. economy.

No, first of all because I don't participate in this forum to watch movies or TV. But I will be happy to read an opinion piece or a news story.
Secondly, if you consider yourself intelligent, you can't judge millions of people by what a few speakers on a video say. I wouldn't do it for Asians or Muslims so I won't do it for illegals.
speaking of intelligence..

if YOU consider yourself intelligent, you would have an open mind to review all opinions.

if YOU consider yourself intelligent, you would know that history is full of examples where YES you can judge millions of people by the stand of ONE leader.

in recent history, we had hitler, mao, stalin... the list goes on.

to solidify the thought.. you have the USA.

think about it some, genius..

the usa had all these troops go over to the middle east to fight a war that was declared on them. do you think the soldiers were all in line with the war? do you think all the civilians back home in the usa supported the war?(if they condone it, they support it.)

reverse the thought, and look at what is happening in the middle east with all the muslims.

my gut feeling about you.. you are a naive person who doesn't believe evil exists.

Maybe I can shed some light on that as I am NA. In the southwest, yes, the Comanches and other tribes went to war with Mexico. My ancestors were originally from the Minnesota area and had no part in any conflicts with Mexico.

Evidence suggests Europeans were the first to settle in North America, followed a few thousand years later by Asians.
.
Who was here first is going through a review now.
.
South America may have been first settled by the people we now know as the Japanese.

More cliches. The fact that immigrants come here illegally is clear witness to the bad policy of USA corporations and both governments, the 3 forces all in collusion. Of course you racist connedservatives ignore this. You must ignore the facts, the reality, in order to maintain your irrational reactionary bigoted view on immigration.

There is nothing you can say against certain basic facts:

1. the land was stolen
2. Mexican culture is older in the USA than gringo culture
3. Millions of people are not going to be deported as the world would not tolerate such human rights abuse
4. bigots like you inhibit immigration reform

Wrong. Your genocidal wetdream will not manifest in reality, boy.

Legalization of immigrants will occur, there will be a path to citizenship, and tens of millions, including me, will continue to speak Castilian in the USA.

Whatchagonnado?

So you don't want them to become Americanized?? Do you deny that there is a growing movement among Latinos to resist assimilation? They have their own media, tv shows and many goods and services which accomodate them and their language. Shall we have a Balkanized country Mr Sinjauvi?
The 2nd and 3rd generations do not concern us. They have become Americanized already.
If 2nd and 3rd generations have become Yankified, then what it is the problem?

People who grew up in Mexico cannot be expected to be fully gringified. So what? Leave them alone. Why is it your business which language someone speaks? I speak Castilian all the time, and whatchagonna?

Balkanized... the analogy doesn't work. The USA stole territory where Mexicans already lived. So... Mexican culture is part of the USA and there's nothing anyone can do about it, nor should they want to, since it's a benefit to the USA.
