You have your own country.

"Believe me when I tell you," she says, her voice breaking, "that if this wasn't necessary, that if my dad knew that he could make us survive in Mexico, he would have never brought us here."

You didn't try hard enough. Mexicans think the US is the land of milk and honey. So instead of improving their country they flee here because they are lazy. Mexico is not Somalia.

Japan has no natural resources yet they have built the 3rd largest economy in the world. Mexicans are lazy.

Your parents screwed up your life because it's going to be a very very very long time before any amnesty is ever granted again, if ever.

So why are you here? Unless you are 100% Native American, your ancestors did the same thing.

Clearly, your ancestors chose to leave their homeland and come to the USA rather than "fix" the land they came from.

If I follow your logic (or lack thereof), you are loudly saying that your ancestors were too lazy to fix their homeland and chose to come here instead...

So how lazy were your ancestors? Give us details about your lazy, useless grandparents (or whatever).

BTW, my ancestors came from England (for opportunities that were not available to them in the old country), from Ireland (to escape the famine), and from the Ukraine (to escape Communism).
They weren't "lazy"- they came here, worked hard, and did well for themselves, but they realized that they could not, as poor working class folks, "fix" their homelands.
In other words, my ancestors came here for pretty much the same reason the Mexicans come here today, and I'll bet your ancestors came here for similar reasons.

There's billions of sad stories in regards to humans out there in the world. Libertarian, your logic is complete hogwash. Even Native Americans came from a foreign land, Asia. We use to hang horse thieves. Women weren't allowed to vote. It's 2012, and there are seven billion people on this sad little planet. Back when your ancestors came here there were very few people running around, there were no laws on immigration to speak of. Now we have over three hundred million citizens in this country, and we have immigration laws. A million people are LEGALLY allowed into the USA each year for about the past twenty years. They are doing it legally, not illegally. Why is it that idiots like you can't understand the difference? Can't understand that we are in a different world than when your ancestors went across the Atlantic. That the very survival of our nation is at stake. That we have IMMIGRATION laws!! Have you ever been to India or China? GO! See what over a billion people in each of those nations looks like. The suffering and enviromental degredation. Get your head out of the sand!

Now that papa is gone, she says that they make a living selling bread. What about the welfare, the annual bonus in child tax credit, free breakfast/lunch, etc. Wow!

Empowering illegals? Don't we do that enough with free education, free healthcare, and hard working Americans foot the bill? I have very little sympathy for illegals. They came knowing the risks and knowing the consequences. Do you know that before Mexicans come across the border they are coached by coyotes how to manipulate the system? I'm sorry that your country is a pit of despare, but coming here to consume with absolutely no intention of contributing is why we don't want you here. I have no problem with you wanting to make a better life for your family, but when Americans rob to help their families they go to prison. There is no difference here. You are robbing the system and you should be punished.

My ancestors came in chains and with a gun to their heads. I'am black and didn't cross the border knowingly illegal.

Not like Mexicans who have their own country, run by their countryman. Who would think Mexicans are nomads w/o a country roaming the earth. In fact they have a country but no matter how many of their heads they put together they can't seem to make nothing work. Them can't govern themselves so they want to live in our back yard.

To add insult to injury, they have to audacity to compare their plight to that of your ancestors, and we know that is laughable. Your ancestors had no control over what happened to them, illegals choose to sneak in without the proper credentials to have the right to work here, and have been "empowered" by lax administrations that continued to look the other way, allowing illegals to dig in and take from American taxpayers.

Aiding and abetting if it encourages them to stay here or come here. The film should encourage them to make their home countries better places to live and if they so desire to become a part of our community to do it legally at the back of the line and not while squatin here on our soil.

Our ancestors didn't "sneak in" they did it legally. Stop making excuses for illegal alien border jumpers. By the way, when our ancestors came here legally they weren't put on the government tit!

Good point, "G'friend!" What they don't seem to understand is that Mexicans have absolutely NOTHING to bring! They can't even run mexico!!!

How in the hell are they going to control and run America...without tax payer welfare?!!! Half of them are illiterate and high school drop outs! Amazing that they think this without thinking...but that makes sense for them! They have nothing and are totally dependent on us, and act like we owe them! Like spoiled children! No responsibility for their actions, always blaming.

Everywhere they have been has been turned into a bankrupt ghetto, destroying not only the neighborhoos in which they live, but destroying education systems, hospital emergency rooms, social services, including welfare. At least 70% of illegal alien hispanics are on welfare!!! If this isn't terrorism, then I don't want to know what it is!!!

You can't conquer a country coming in on your knees and totally dependent upon it!
