Interesting paper on Blacks and immigration.

here is a significant extract :

"The group said that any immigration reform needs to address a number of key issues important to the economic and political future of Blacks and people of African descent that reside in the United States.

The group wants the U.S. Commerce and Agriculture departments to foster partnerships between Blacks in the United States and Blacks in the countries where the federal government is already working to advance it’s own interests in agriculture.

The group said that all legislation for immigration reform must include provisions that “are applicable to Blacks and other groups that are historically victims of racism.”

Companies and organizations that utilize the special visa and guest worker programs must make those same opportunities available to Blacks and documented workers before new permits are granted, stated the group. The group also wants to make sure that the immigration process provides equitable allocation of visas to Sub Saharan African countries, to the Caribbean and to countries in Latin America that are underrepresented.

Experts say that both the powerful business lobby and labor groups want to change the way the guest worker program works. Business owners want more visas and a streamlined process, while unions want more control over the number of special visas that are allocated during tough economic times."

What do that have to do with the price of BUTTER? Unemployment among BLACK PEOPLE is a staggering 17.6 %. So don't give me that LIE that ILLEGAL ALIENS are doing jobs no one else won't do. That's BS & you know it. In 2008, following a U.S. IMMIGRATION & CUSTOM ENFORCEMENT raid that CAUGHT 300 Mexican wet-backs.... ILLEGALS, from a COLUMBIA PROCESSING PLANT in SC, a SPOOKED house of RAEFORD QUIETLY began REPLACING ILLEGALS with NATIVE- BORN LABOR at all of its plants. The work force went from 80% wet-backs to 70 % BLACK PEOPLE. So do not hand me this, its not JUST a Latin problem. 90 %
of ILLEGAL ARE MEXICAN WET- BACKS.

Although we can do without the racist rhetoric, I do understand your point quite clearly, that the illegal alien issue has a direct impact on the masses of Black people in this country. I know for a fact that large companies, not just meat processing plants, regularly hire illegal aliens with complete knowledge that their Social Security numbers are fake or belong to other people. And that these illegals are definitely doing the jobs that Black people want.

But when we have so-called leaders like Al Sharpton siding with illegals at the expense of Black workers, gives legitimacy to the illegal aliens.

I am glad that Ron Daniels is bringing up this issue, as it is so clear that the immigration reform is really a detriment to Black folks, in this time of stubbornly high unemployment.

The politicians are so quick to sell-out Blacks to cater to the new open border agenda, that led to Hispanics now being the largest minority group in the first place.

Don't expect black leaders that are funded by non-blacks to speak on the behalf of blacks. We are our own leaders; those jackasses on TV do not lead me!

The problem is there is a percentage of Blacks that feel like they have to carry the water for Latinos, as if they are our brethren or something. They are quick to call you a sell-out if you dare not go along with this immigration giveaway.

Sir, I am in favor of illegals getting on the path to citizenship and pay taxes like the rest of us have to.

Ma'am,

nobody seems to address the OP point i.e. that immigration is biased and does not provide the same welcome in the USA for Black immmigrants (Africans etc.) than for Hispanics.

As say Dr Daniels it "isn't just a Latino issue".
i feel his point of view is underlining a big "elephant" in the immigration debate that is never discussed by US media and in the public.

african immigrants benefit us no more then other immigrants. historically, immigration was used to push blk americans out of the industry market and was quite successfull...it does the same thing to blk folk in this country today.

It makes for the good media coverage that they crave, but we really do need to question how opening up visas for construction and hospitality workers benefits Blacks that are here?

Most of the Africans that they are letting in have higher education levels, so the visas they are pushing are clearly for the Mexicans that dominate the immigration debate.

I still don't get why Al Sharpton thinks it is a priority?

@ Attai1:

I should have added concerning Al Sharpton, other than being a media [email protected], why is he making this a priority, and selling out other Blacks, and working people in this country, legally here, regardless of race?

The Black Citizens of this Country deserve Priority consideration over Illegal Aliens. Sharpton and Obama do not seem to see this.

The majority of Americans has voted for G. W. Bush at least once and sent a Republican majority (evil Boehner) in the House.
Where is the "common sense" of this majority of (white) Americans ?

This should raised some questions no ?

Besides if Dr Daniels says that Black immigrants are not offered the same opportunities than Latinos, i guess his statement has some weight. He obviously feels it can be a response to the dilution of AAs among the general population due to Latino heavy immigration.
To believe that the USA, a country built on immigration - and nastily for a part - can be closed to any immigration is lacking of political realism in my humble opinion.
So the suggestions of Dr Daniels are rather witty and fair imho again.

I 100% agree with you. The only reason why they say that is just to make excuses on why not to hire Blacks for those jobs and theyll come up with ANY reason as to why they wont hire Blacks. And to say that they are doing jobs that Blacks dont want to do, that makes it seem like we dont want to work and it makes us seem like we are insiginificant and dont matter in society. These companies should pay huge fines for hiring illegals but the only reason why they do it is because of money

Sharpton Joins Immigration Fight
sharpton obama shaking hands
Washington — Immigration is an issue that many Latinos across the country have criticized President Obama on for his substantial deportations in comparison to President Bush.
Obama, who held a closed door meeting with numerous politicians and civil rights leaders across the country yesterday, has tapped Rev. Al Sharpton to join him in the immigration debate.
Sharpton called the session a “very healthy beginning” and said that immigration reform is something we must do together as a country.
“Immigration reform must be a priority,” he said.
Jesus is my Lord and Savior not Obama. No matter what happens God is still in control and one day this world will be destroyed to usher in God's Kingdom and after that, we wont have to worry about any of this
