Mexico and Afghanistan should unite. Mexico is a bad country to work in!<quoted text>
When I read information in the "international press" about countries I really don't have time or or much interest to know, probably I will be lazy enough not to search for more information.
We missed the oportunity - because this is an old thread - to know about your country of origin. A country which very probably have very Little to do with Mexico.
I think that Canada is a developed and democratic country.
Now, to say that Mexico is similar to Afghanistan, I don't think so. I am not offeded being compared with Afghanistan, or Afghans, because my country is not at war or have conflicts with this or other Muslim countries.
But I believe that you mean that Mexico have a similar degree of Development, or Social Order than Afghanistan... Am I not right?
Although Canada have only third of the population of Mexico, and comparison between our economies is not fair, it seems that México is the SECOND economy of North America, in some measures two places above Canada in world ranking.
Mexico is the 11th Economy in the world, and Afghanistan is 104th or so.
And if Canada is as wonderful as you say... Why more Americans want and do live in Mexico than Canada?
Canada do have a Little more trade with the USA, I think that is something in which it beats Mexico, I agree.
I am not being offensive with Canada, but to say that México is "like Afghanistan", I think is a bit too much.
So you arrived from an under-developed country to rich Canada, and believe that if you bordered the USA you would be democratic and rich? And more so, you feel entitled to believe that we Mexicans underperform even when we are neighbours of the USA?
Then I suppose that Iraqies should have also a "bad gene" or something, right? Being invaded by the US and not allow themselves to be formed in the good desires of "nation building" that Americans bring with them? Afghanistan also, right? Vietnam? Phillipines?
So you assume that everywhere the USA is or were (or neighbours) have to be "rich and democratic" by mere contact and influence?
From 1920 to 2000 Mexico tried to develop itself very much appart from influence of the USA. I think that it was a very nice try, and I personally witnessed much advances of the strategies followed under that premise. In the long run, some things didn't balanced well, and NOW (since 1994) Mexico is trying to, after all, see if the vecinity with the USA could be put to good use.
We are looking at that movie, and seeing the developments of that story. There are advantages and disadvantages.
